Pacemaker
Well, I am the owner of a new pacemaker. I have a communication device that will need to be plugged in at all times and wonder if anyone else has something similar who goes boondocking. I have the standard solar panel and two 6-volt batteries. Thanks.

When you say plugged in, do you mean shore power or does the device work on 12 volt. A very different answer to your question depending on what power you need.

Not sure why a pacemaker is a 24/7 plugin. The folks I know with these, like my dad, do not have that requirement. I hope there is a work around for you to be able to continue to boondock.

It is not 12 volt. It needs power to transmit the data from my pacemaker to the doctor. Brroberts does your dad only plug it in when he is ready to transmit the data?

I would suggest you contact your doctor for these type of questions as one person's medical issues may not be the same as yours...

Yeas, I don’t remember dad’s schedule, but it doesn’t tie him down.

If you need to plug any regular appliance to electricity, an inverter, good dual 6-volt batteries and solar should get you what you need.

^This^
There are many different remote monitoring, intervention, and communication schemes used in the world of pacemakers these days.
Many use cellular data link for communication to the doctor's office, in some cases that may be more of a challenge for boondockers than the power-side of the equation.

Hi: Carmel Clown... I'm on my second Pacemaker. My annual visit to the Hosp., they connect me to their computer. Since 2006 this is the only hiccup I've suffered. When they changed my unit a few years ago I told them I wanted one that I could transmit via phone. They said I'd have to pay for that one out of pocket.
Personally I think it's the slow pace of life that's got me down. The Cardiac Clinic will give me the aye or nay on the 30th. Alf

By all means, contact your doctor.
My fishing buddy has a pacemaker. He calls the doc. whenever we go fishing at high altitudes so that the doc. can adjust it accordingly for the trip. It's done at my buddy's home where he has good internet connection, and the doc can do it remotely from the office. Don't know the electronic equipment details, but everything Was set up by the doc.

Thanks everyone. My setup is for cellular transmitting. I will definitely check with the doctor.
