Recall on low pressure propane quick disconnect

Just got the email from ETI.

Looks like the quick connect fitting for outside connections itself is “porous”. Pretty weird.

If you have an affected fitting, you get a new one sent to you and up to $40 ‘merican for getting an RV shop to unscrew the old one and screw on the new one.

I haven't got the email yet and I know I'm in the recall. Wow a whole 40 dollars I'm sure all the shops around me will be fighting for this job

Maybe you missed the cutoff dates. I think we are possibly in it, ours was end of March.

Here’s what the email says:

“ This affects customers with the standard Propane Quick Disconnect manufactured from July 2021 - March 2022. ”

My 21C has a Dec 2021 birth date so I know I'm in the recall. There is also a YouTube video on how you tell if your disconnect is in the recall yup guilty again.

Did not get the email. Did watch the Escape You Tube video that came out today explaining how to identify the recalled part and how to get a new one, as well as a refund from Escape for up to $48. I shared the video on another thread.

I spent an hour lying on my back trying to get the camera to capture the numbers on my quick disconnect., a real PIA. Finally Noelia helped. I asked for a replacement, so the next time I get underneath there will be to replace it. BTW, can any one recommend a good propane tape to use on the joint?

Hi Jim, just get the thread tape for gas. Should be designated on package. Just noticed you just got new '22 '19. Same here! Been reading a lot of your posts on mods for the last year, thanks so much. We're newbies to travel trailer. I like improving things to work as needed/better, not necessarily as designed (retired Sustaining Engineer, part of the job).

Already did mine. I just got a connect with valve when the recall came out. I also cut the two step mounting bolts off 3/16” since one was tight against the valve and the other was tight against the crimped end on the supply hose.

They used pipe dope on mine, I try this first then tape only as a last resort on gas pipes.

Thumbs up another fan of proper dope over 'proper' tape for gas lines

Yep, if even a tiny shred of Teflon tape gets loose in the system to block a downstream gas orifice it can be a real puzzling PITA to troubleshoot.
