Samlex inverters

Samlex, the vendor for Escape's DC->AC inverter, had a booth at the recently-completed Orlando Hamcation. The man at the booth knew immediately who Escape was and accurately described the inverter and remote that they supply to Escape. Here is a photo of their display. The enormous box on the lower left is a 3000W inverter that has inputs for a solar controller and other things. It's scary-looking. The big inverter works with lead acid batteries, but he told me it could be reconfigured to work with lithium ion batteries. Just planning ahead.

Took a 3000 watt Xantrex when we picked up to see if Reace would change his mind about installing; otherwise I was prepared to do it. It was kinda large & heavy but not "scary". Due to a mixup they already installed a 1500 Samlex and it does run the Vitamix, although larger unit would work better.

Had huge custom cut cables and the vendor-DonRowe.com took it all back with a 10% restock fee.

I have a mental image of size 00 gauge cables costing $5+ per foot to run the 3000 watt unit. My credit card was scared ...

From the Samlex product catalog that I picked up at the booth, it appears that the 3000W inverter on display was model EVO-3012. It has a built-in battery charger and transfer relay, and weighs 64 pounds.

There is a panel-mounted remote display for this inverter that is similar to the one Escape provides with the 1500W inverter they install. But this one has an SD card slot for logging information. It would be nice if devices like this had wifi and an associated cellphone app to use for monitoring performance.
