Surge Protector

I have the optional EMS in my trailer but it buzzes, enough so that I can easily hear it outside the trailer. Talked to the factory who had me clean the contactor which quieted it down some, but not much.

For those that have the EMS, can you hear yours? Trying to give it a sound level is kind of difficult, you can certainly hear it throughout the trailer.

I don't hear mine at all. Now the power fan... on high... that drove me outside. But, I understand that will quiet down with use.

Okay, so a whole bunch of us say "no noise." Not to question you... but are you absolutely sure it's the surge protector? Like I said, the power fan drove me out of Ten Forward on high.

Sorry, should have called it the standard MaxAirr fan. Nothing really special, no power vent or remote.. but boy is it loud (whine) on HIGH. The documentation does say it "evens out" or gets quieter after 24 hours of use. So, about 16 more hours to go!

I've never had to use mine. Cools down enough at night that opening the windows give a nice cross breeze.
I turned it one afternoon because it was so hot, but since we were sitting outside in the shade, it seemed kind of pointless. I was just drawing warm air in to replace warm air.
I may have used it at home to help reduce humidity, but only on the low setting.
If you want to eliminate noise from the Maxxfan, turn on the one in the range hood. Guarantee you won't hear the Maxxfan.

Yes it's the Surge Protector. Coming from a fantastic fan I agree about the fan being noisy, on higher speeds anyway.

Yup.. And once things get hot/humid enough to require cranking up the roof air conditioner, then the noise from all the other fans (max air, range, texas, inverter, fridge internal... ) magically fades away

At some point, coping with the extreme effects of a continental climate (summer/winter depending on your latitude) isn't worth the effort and you accept that camping is a three season activity in those domains.

Lucky about the same time you come to the realization our little home away from homes have wheels.. A little time and a little fuel to fuel movement and you can follow the birds ;-)

Yes, my surge protector makes noise as well. The buzzing was a let down when i first plugged the trailer in.

Hi: All... You guys and gals should live in my world. I have a constant buzzing in my head (Tinnitus), so there's no quiet for me...till the end. All those years of not wearing ear protection have come to haunt!!!
Wm. Shatner (Capt. Kirk) of Star Trek fame considered the final solution as a means to stop the noise!!!

In my Escape 19' my EMS had a slight buzz but in the 21' it is silent. I think part of the issue is where it is mounted, in the 19' it was over the black tank which seemed to reverberate any noise whereas in the 21 it is all the way in the rear, away from everything.

This is why I like winter camping, if you get too hot, open a window, too cold, close the window. Silence abounds in the winter time, particularly when it is snowing and you are the only ones in the CG, peaceful!!

We also had an irritating whine that started a few days after we picked up the trailer but it was on the lowest fan speed. I was advised by the tech at MaxAirr to run it on high for 24 consecutive hours to "break it in." Didn't help our problem so they sent a new fan motor. Simple replacement and the irritating noise was gone.
