Tank Capacity - Actual doesn't meet specs

Looking to see if anyone will take what we've dubbed "the tank challenge" to gather more data regarding tank capacity.

TLDR: We've found out both our grey and black tanks are coming up ~8 gallons short of the listed capacity. Grey tank should hold 28 and we are only getting 20. Black tank should hold 22 and we are only getting 13.

Full story: We used to live full time (7 years) in a motorhome. Tanks were obviously bigger but we had a good sense of how long we could go before we filled our tanks. With the size of the tanks in our new Escape 21NE we should be able to go a week without having to dump. Well... we were finding that wasn't the case. So we decided to do a test. We ran this in 2 different sites (both had sewer which made running this test easy ) about a month or so apart. Both times the trailer was level. After thoroughly emptying the tanks, we took a 1 gallon water jug and filled and emptied into each tank recording how many gallons we were able to get into each. Filled the black tank up until we saw water about to back into the toilet. Filled grey tank until water started to come up in the shower.

Those who boondock know that a difference of 8 gallons is HUGE. That's about a 1/3 of the tanks we aren't getting use of.

We have contacted Escape. They got back to us that they did do a test there on the grey system. Uninstalled the tank did hold the full amount (28.25). Installed though they got less (23.75). Explanation is that the drain is mounted on the side of the tank and when full the tank sags - and hence it isn't fully emptying.

Curious to know if others are running into the same problem in the same model (21NE) as well as other models.

Not sure about capacities but I added a center support on both fresh and gray tanks 3 weeks after receiving trailer to prevent the pregnant sagging look that is shown when liquid is in tank. Tanks are very thin material. At least on our 21C delivered in Jan. 2021. Older trailers may have heavier walled tanks. I don’t know. I do know our fresh water tank is very close to capacity.
