Used 17b - ok to use heater before checking for leaks and caulking redo?

The person we bought the camper from had everything checked out it the fall and we just bought it. There’s a propane monitor at the base of the dinette. Can I use the stove and heater or do I need to have it tested for leaks first? It was stored outside.

I also am wondering if there is a way to clean the caulk on the outside seam. It’s dark and dirty looking although I am guessing it works just fine. Maybe there’s a place that redos the caulking?

I'm new to Escapes but have had many used RVs. Only ever had a propane leak once. It was on a refrigerator. Smelled the propane pretty quick and shut it down. I would say you are good to use your propane appliances unless you smell propane after turning them on. Also make sure you have a working LP detector. Best way to do that is probably just buy a new one. Most of them have a 7 year lifespan.

If you haven’t done it already, read the trailer manual from cover to cover. Better, watch All the Reace ETI users videos on the their site. Lot of info, but that’s just the beginning!

Bit of a learning curve, I’d say.
