Valterra Tank Wand

Any suggestions about whether to go with a flexible tank wand or a rigid one?
Perhaps the decision might be based on whether the tank is directly below the toilet or offset...?

We have the rigid one for our classic 19, and it works very well.

I have rigid wand that Reace modified by drilling a couple extra holes at a 45 degree angle so that water is also directed up. Plugged up a couple other holes to maintain water pressure. Requires careful application.

If you are getting a 21 you will need a flexible wand. The drain tube makes a couple of turns on its way to the black water tank

Thanks. You answered my question. I've ordered a flexible one.

I’m not familiar with the how and why of using a wand. General maintenance, problems? Any info would be appreciated. -Tom

Helps to remove toilet paper from the sensors in the black tank.

Rather than rely on the sensors, you can just look down with the trap open and see how full it is.

Tom, here is the lowdown on the Valterra flexible tank wand. The Vid is worth watching.

I appreciate the info. Looks like I'll be getting a wand at some point. "An ounce of prevention..." -Tom

I have a rigid wand I stick down the toilet once in a while to really give it a good spray down. Most of the time when I am dumping out at home using a bucket I do the black and then the grey and take a bucket or two of the grey and put it down the toilet to stir things up and give a general rinse to the black tank. It is amazing how much more comes out!
