Water pump gurgle?

The water pump works great. But if I leave it on and am not running water, every so often it gives a short gurgle, like it lost some pressure and is catching up again. Is this normal?

I think it is.
But, we turn the pump on prior to opening a tap or flushing, and turn it off after. Best practice, I think, to prevent a flood if a leak develops while you are away from the trailer or outside.

I usually do that, too, although more because of the gurgle. (What do you do on city water? that would be more of a flood if there was a leak.)

You're supposed to turn city water off at the source before you leave camp. I've only ever had city water at the rallies in Osoyoos, so I haven't been following this advice.

I think your question has been asked before. I believe the solution is a very slight adjustment on the Allen screw on the pump. Check your manual on location and the troubleshooting section. We always turn off the water hydrant when gone and usually the pump off when not In use, especially at night or during the day when we are mostly outside.
Shutting the hydrant off is part of the “away from the camper checklist” including closing the windows down, adjusting the max fan hood down, rolling up the awning, securing the lawn chairs from blowing away or getting wet, locking the door, etc. YMMV
