where do the wires from the solar controller get connected to the battery wires?

Recently my Go Power solar controller had a blank display. Since the controller is under the passenger side dinette bench, I rarely look at it and have no idea ho long it had been blank. We had just returned from a 4 week winter wandering, and the display could have been blank the entire time. After confirming that there was voltage both on the solar panel side and the battery side, I replaced it with the updated version of the same controller. In order to get enough slack in the wires, I undid the clips that hold the wiring harness under the bench.

Along the way, I noticed that the wires from the Battery side of the solar controller go back to the rear of the trailer and eventually disappear into the compartment along the floor at the very rear of the trailer. And only two wires ( a positive and a negative) go into the battery box. So my question is, do the wires have go all the back to the WFCO controller?

I always thought that the reason Reace put the solar controller under that seat was so that it could be close to the batteries. But if the wires have to run all the way back to the WFCO controller, at least theoretically it could have been installed someplace that is a bit easier to view. Of course, now that I have replaced the controller, I have no intention of moving it, especially since I can view the information on my phone using blue tooth. But I am curious, and wonder if any of you have information from the work you have done.
