It may be a mixed blessing. At least at Monck.
How do you get more campsites into a provincial Park? Two options that I can think off off the top of my head. 1. Expand park boundaries 2. Add campsites within existing boundaries.
Liz and I were up at Monck Provincial two weeks ago, trying to get some camping in before the wildfire season. This was about my fifth time at Monck. I’ve enjoyed the lightly forested park where you could get views of the lake from many sights. I’ve always thought there was adequate space between most sites.
Walking around the CG not thinking about park management at all I noticed some brand new lakeside sites. That got me to look at the layout of sites at least in that area more carefully. In my view things may seem more “squishy” up there now. Specially during the summer camping season.
I expect that park management have some formula or criteria about where to put these new sites. Those of us who are retired and can camp during the shoulder seasons may not be too affected. But I’d advise checking the park on line CG map if you want to go back to your favourite site with its great view cause you might have brand new campers right next door.
