A bypass route around Dothan

Does anyone on the forum live in or near Dothan, AL, or is anyone familiar with the roads in and around Dothan. Specifically, I would like to know if there is a way to avoid Ross Clark Circle when traveling on Route 231. Anyone know of a "bypass?" I was told by one forum member that another forum member lives in the Dothan area. Hopefully, someone can help me here. I travel 231 2 or 3 times a year and I would like to bypass what seems like a million traffic lights.

We just were in Dothan a week ago and came in on 84 and went out on 231. I assume Ross Clark Circle is that outer belt around the city. To us it did not seem that bad and looked a lot better than going through the center of town, but if you go through there often then it might get old. Looks like you would have to go way out in the country to avoid it. Sorry, not much help. Loren

Carl, Dothan city officials are asking drivers to avoid Ross Clark Circle because of the construction during 2015. One alternate route, coming from the south, is to take the "Circle" as far as Highway 52. Take 52 west for a couple of miles until you turn right on Honeysuckle Road. Honeysuckle Road becomes Westgate Parkway after passing Highway 84. Stay on Westgate Parkway for about 5 miles. You can then turn north on Highway 231. This route still has several lights, but is better than the "Circle". Best of luck. Kirk

Thanks to all who answered. Donna, I did contact Marion and got a few suggestions. So I will try the new routes suggested next time I have to visit my son in Huntsville. Also, got home Tuesday PM from our pick-up trip which included the annual rally. Had a great 7 weeks and met lots of wonderful people. Even visited Alf and Mary Anne in Ontario. Absolutely love the 5.0TA!
