Advice from the natives...

...and others with experience...

Most of our time will be spent in Banff, Jasper and Chilliwack, so...

Any suggestions for microbrews or breweries to try while north of the border?

Any suggestions for local ice cream places?

Any suggestions for any other local food gems?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Anything Bison at The Bison in Banff.

Yes, yes, and yes. I like all styles if it is a good brew, but you can't go wrong with a good IPA.

Then the 12 pack sampler of Wild Rose.. 3 of Velvet Fog, Wrasberry Ale, IPA, and Electric Ave Lager. Only in Alberta.. brewed in Calgary.. easy to find in Banff/Canmore not sure about Jasper. Probably not in BC

When someone else is buying...all beer is good!

Except!!... anything with a fruit additive in it.
And that includes Corona with a lime wedge. The lime wedge seems to flatten the beer.

No one chiming in on ice cream treats?

From Victoria BC

From Surrey BC - Don't be put off by the fact that it comes in a can, it is incredibly good!

If you're passing through Sorrento BC (east of Kamloops) try this organic offering from Crannog

I just returned to Wisconsin (beer capitol of the world) with a case of Fat Tug. I believe it can only be secured in BC or do they also ship to Alberta?

Ditto Fat Tug and Red Racer IPA
Bought a case of Red Racer ISA ( India Session Ale ), which is lower alcohol so you can drink more and I hated it. Floral hops over-power it.

My favorite beer was Fat Tug. I brought a case home to MN last fall.

According to their Where's the Beer? page, it is available only in B.C. and Oregon.
