Besides Allstays, I also use the Ultimate Public Campgroud Project, as I mostly stay in public campgrounds anyway. There is also a version for military campgrounds since I can stay in those. Allstays has this as well.

This just popped up for me on Facebook. It affects Android users

"ALLSTAYS app
I recently needed to find a propane dealer in the area where I'm camped, so pulled out my phone to check the Allstays app, the one I paid a lifetime membership of $9.99 for four years ago. I searched and searched but, nope, the Allstays app was definitely missing. So, this morning I did a little research and discovered the bad news for Android users: No More Allstays App For Us. It's all explained on their webpage. Something to do with licenses, etc. They do, however, offer some workarounds. Those who have iPads, iPhones, etc. are unaffected. (Sidenote: This app was the #1 group favorite in our travel apps poll.)"

It's still available on the Google apps site.
Just not supported anymore.

From their site--------

Multiple things happened (map fee increase, a app ban/removal and censor of core data) that led to a departure from Android in late 2017. Full data is still on Apple and allstays.com as normal. The Android apps will keep running and anything that goes to the web (website links, images, reviews, etc) will still work and be updated. But major code updates, data adds and deletions will not happen. You can still reinstall on devices as below.
-----

Here is the app to download again.

Donna, I just checked my android phone and the app (free version) still resides on it. I clicked it, the app came up, and I was able to move around the country and zoom in and view campground info.

If your Allstays icon disappeared, it might be your phone at fault?

I don't have an Android . I only posted it for the benefit of others. I wonder if the APP will go away if there's an update to the OS?

My free Allstays seems to be working just fine. Strange that they would not upgrade it for Android, seeing how many users there are.

The Ultimate Public Campground Project is the brainchild of Ted Houghton, a longtime Lazy Daze owner and contributor on the LDO Forum where I am active as well. He recently sold his motorhome but still keeps up the Project website:

US AND CANADA CAMPGROUNDS - FORMAL AND DISPERSED PUBLIC CAMPING LOCATIONS - Home

Here is his personal website:

Also check out the rvparky website and app. They don't have quite as many reviews or sites as Allstays, but the data's better structured and the user interface is way better.

Yes, Defenestrator! We use Allstays for everything except REVIEWS.

.....I find the rvparkreviews to be much more accurate!

I don’t put much stock in reviews. Many times I’ve seen one of my favorite campgrounds reviewed in a negative manner even mentioning something I like best about it as a negative.
And the reverse too. So we usually try the site after we look it over and if it’s not that great for us we don’t go back. Different features for us camping creatures.

I agree, Dave. If I have been to a campground before, I don’t bother with reviews either. We know what we like and are eager to return. When we are traveling however, to a first time campground, we look for specific features; such as cleanliness of bathrooms, an abundance of full-time derelict campers, space between sites, etc.. we find Good Sam and Allstays reviews to over-rate, and rvparkreviews to be more accurate with our expectations.

I do this all the time, especially at the planning stage. What you end up with a google search though, is a whole bunch of stuff you have to sort through, as opposed to using an app focused on what you are looking for.

I Google the rv parks for destination almost all the time. I use the map results which narrows it down to just the area Im wanting. Has worked fine so far.

And then, you can use Streetview and Satellite views to see if you would be across from a scrap yard.
