That time of year again when Arizona and California call us. Spent the first night off grid outside of Everett and nights two and three in Champoeg Oregon. Off to Canyonville Oregon for Tuesday/Wednesday. Weather in the passes looks good Donna. Oregon is a beautiful state!
New Equipment: After two years of research we finally landed on the 1 Up bike rack. Had picked another RV rated rack but changed my mind when I came upon the 1 up installed on a truck on my jogging route. Installed it just prior to leaving. Exceeded all my expectations. Simple install, easy and quick to load bikes, good locking systems and solid as a rock. No movement whatsoever. Yes it’s expensive but the quality is worth it. Handles two large mountain bikes with ease. Love the tiered loading system. Put a XXL bike cover on it from Amazon. The rack took 6 days to be delivered to Victoria BC from somewhere in the eastern US.
Heavy rain today on the Westcoast but that is to be expected in the Pacific Northwest. Weather forecasts look great for all our upcoming destinations. The 5/TA handled well behind the Tundra. Little things breaking (plastic) but all major systems working as expected.. The Park Ranger and I got to try out our electrical repair talents when I discovered that our campsites electrical box needed a new 30 amp receptacle and breaker.
Takes lots of work getting prepared for the trip but worth it.
PS: You got to love the escape furnace on these cold nights!

Glad you're so happy with the 1up. I just bit the bullet and ordered one as well. I was wondering if you had to pay "brokerage fees" with delivery? We've been burned badly in the past and opted to pick it up in the US.

Brokerage fees are a "feature" of UPS. I don't make the purchase if UPS is the courier. I ask for USPS/Canada Post.
Also note that some companies, like eTrailer.com have a Canadian warehouse to ship from. I've had to phone my order in to make sure it doesn't cross the border.

It was delivered by Fed Ex. So far I have not received the bill for taxes or brokerage fees. However based on past experiences I suspect I will get an invoice in the next month.

I mulled over the 1 UP for several years as I worried about the price. Last year i bit the bullet and purchased one. One of the best purchases I have made. Phenomenal product in every way. My only regret is waiting so long to buy one. I'm sure it will work perfectly forever. Solid, intelligent design, easy to use etc. etc. Everything people said it was but I had to get one to realize how right they were. If anyone is on the fence about buying one I cannot believe anyone would be disappointed by this product.
