Coos Bay Oregon campgrounds

When I'm in Coos Bay I stay at Sunset Bay State Park, but thinking of going elsewhere since the OR parks are charging more for non-residents (least they were last time I looked).

Been looking at the Oceanside RV Resort as well as the Bay Point Landing. Both on Cape Arago Hwy and close to my friend's place. Mill Casino/RV is on the other side of town from her, so probably won't stay there.

Was wondering if anyone has stayed at either of those places and what they thought about it.

Thanks much!

Have you looked at Bastendorff campground? It's a county park just north of Sunset Bay that's pretty decent.

I'm actually typing this from Bay Point Landing. As far as commercial RV campgrounds go, I would say it is quite good. Very clean and modern, right on the beach. Not cheap so if saving money is your goal I'm sure there are much cheaper options. My only complaint, which is very specific to us, is that our kids wanted to use the "kids club", which is one of the few amenities actually open, but one family or group was continuing to hold it for themselves the entire day - the kids tried several times on separate days and could never get to use it. They should have some sort of reservation/time limit since it is limited to 6 occupants. But the facilities - pool, fitness room, group room, etc., all seem very nice.

Of course it is just an open parking area so if you want privacy or separation you are better off with the state campgrounds. We have the "partial water view" which isn't really worth paying any extra for in my opinion.

Funny, we drove through Sunset Bay today to check it out for a future visit and thought it looked pretty nice. We are OR residents so I guess we get the bargain rate. We also went to Bastendorff (twice) but just to visit the beach, not camping.
