Cultus Lake Camping

Daughter and son-in-law are going to borrow the trailer in July for first time and are looking to camp close to home ( North Van / Burnaby ).
They are looking for advice on best campground at Cultus Lake. Maple Bay, Entrance Bay and Clear Creek campgrounds still have available spaces.
Anybody with experience camping at Cultus or with other ideas?

No experience with Cultus Lake. Used to hear stories about the loud party crowd on the weekends but that may be a thing of the past. The Parks seem to have good control over those events.

Sasquatch Park on the other side of the valley?
Tent camped there many years ago when kids were real young and enjoyed it.
A bit of gravel road, about 5 km, to get to the park form Harrison Hot Springs.

Chehalis River Campground sites can be reserved and payment by Credit Card. Rustic and minimalistic Recreational site CG along the River. In my opinion, it is a well run CG. I've been there twice. I'd want to get a site by the river.

It all depends on what kind of camping experience the couple are looking for. It is in the Lower Mainland. Beautiful drive North of the Fraser from Mission.

We've spent years long-term camping at SunnySide up at Cultus but not at the provincial park. SunnySide is at least on the Lake which makes it possible to easily walk down to the water. Cultus can be a bit of a zoo in the summertime.

We have stayed in Entrance Bay twice and Delta Grove once. I enjoyed the Entrance Bay sites more as they were within a grove of tall cedars, very private and quiet. We were very close to the shower building also. The Delta Grove site we had was more exposed and not nearly as private. Also stepped on a wasp nest at that site and my two kids and I got a dozen wasp stings between the three of us, which left a poor impression of that site.

We camped at Cultus for a few days in the off season and loved it. It's a very large place with numerous campgrounds. Lots of hiking trails there and nearby. My understanding is that it gets quite crowded in season to have reservations.

Got them following this thread now.
Have to find a large vacant parking lot for backing lessons next.

Glenn, Trade your Son-In-Law backing lessons for waxing lessons..........
