Hi,
We spent 3 days touring Olympic w/o our trailer(the infamous customs suspension).
We spent the 1st 2 days here :
Ocean Shores Hotels | BEST WESTERN Lighthouse Suites Inn| Hotels in Ocean Shores
Meeting some friends from Portland OR, with a goal(in Aug) of touring the rainforest, SouthWest, section of Olympic.
Pluses - quiet, clean, on a beautiful wide open beach, great breakfast
Minuses - not that close to Olympic rainforest
Our last day/night, after the folks from Portland had to go back to work was here :
Pacific Inn Motel | Surrounded by Natural Northwest Wonders
Again, clean, quiet. Not as fancy as the Best Western, but much closer to the rainforest.
We were last minute, so no vacancies were available in the Park, but if you have enough lead time, I'd suggest checking in the park itself for vacancies :

We had lunch at 2 of the 4 hotels in the Park :
Kalaloch Lodge at Olympic National Park | Peninsula Lodging | Forks, WA
Accommodations at Lake Crescent Lodge | Olympic National Park & Forest WA
Both served excellent food. with great scenery With the hotels themselves nice to tour.....huge lobby with pictures of Roosevelt visiting there, pretty cool.
We especially liked the Hoh area of the NP. We were looking for tropical, rain forest, and it is there. Lots of hiking in the areas we were in Quinault, Kalaloch and Hoh.
Again, though, this was all in early August, not December.
Have fun.
