Hi Alf. That's why the promotional ad says "I (picture of heart) NY!"

As a Florida resident and Sun Pass (infrequent) user, I can tell you that it is very easy to avoid toll roads in Florida (there aren't that many except in Orlando where the State of Florida apparently believes it is OK to squeeze every possible penny out of people visiting the Mouse) and still make good time. As an added bonus, while the roads may be under construction to alleviate added traffic resulting from increasing population and seasonal residents, they are generally in much better shape than northern roads which are subject to deterioration from frost heaving, snow plowing, salt application, etc. But almost every road is generally straight and flat (i.e., boring to drive).
But the real question is why do we have toll roads in the first place? I was under the impression that all the taxes added to the price of a gallon of gas was to pay for road construction and maintenance. Guess the Government fooled me again!!!
