Discover Canada contest

I just entered a contest to see the Canadian Rockies and there is a math question? Is this SOP for Canadians to enter contests?

The skill testing question is required to differentiate the contest from a draw. You would require a licence for a draw because it's ( was ) considered gambling. Usually takes no skill and is a simple question.
I see you've moved back to Pennsylvania .

Its not usually required to enter contests, but its a requirement to claim a prize. Often they ask in advance. My mom won a sweepstakes once and had to do the skill testing question over the phone on the spot...

Interesting concept, so the smarter person wins in case of a draw? The question is almost too basic....

Its always an "easy" question, but when you've already won the pressure can make it difficult to process information well. Her prize was worth over $10,000 and she was freaking out. In reality, I'm sure they would have coached her a little if she'd made a mistake. Its more of an administrative formality than a test of skill.

I wonder if you actually have to give the correct answer, or if any answer will do?

Did you read in the rules that applicants are limited to Canadian citizens? But it was fun to think about.

Interesting contest. But I thought the Vikings discovered Canada and then established a settlement in Newfoundland.

Native American people actually discovered Siberia. They found footprints fossilized in the permafrost where the “Land bridge” existed. For a long time they thought the Siberian people discovered Canada and America because of the direction of the footprints. Then a smart guy from Iowa pointed out that the oldest trick in the Native American book was walking backward! Another logic and history lesson by:

See Canada, I can't afford that.

Everything is cheaper in the states, gas, food, beer, camping. When camping now, I head for the border.

I just opened another Instagram account, @EscapingOntario to post pics of my travels.

I saw that and was going to offer to forgo the airfare and use the made in Canada Escape and the other prizes...they may capitulate on the rule.

Every time I have stayed in a campground in the US close to the border, the vast majority of folks are Canadians, and in speaking with them they all have the same reason as you. I can readily understand that. On the other hand, I used to complain about fuel prices and fuel economy when towing, until a good friend pointed out to me that if RVing was something I really enjoyed, the lower fuel economy was just part of the cost of doing what I wanted to be doing. While there are thousands of interesting places in the US, Canada is a beautiful country and has much less development (yet) than the US. I could do without the Toronto congestion, or a degree of unfriendliness in pockets of one Province I have visited. But cost aside, I do not avoid Canada. When I plan a trip, I want to see as much as I can; I would like to see it all. I would love to visit Newfoundland. But I would have to fly because I have an aversion to being on a boat where land is out of sight. I’ve been really seasick once and I never want to experience that kind of nausea again.

If you are looking for friendly, look no further than Newfoundland. I was invited to stay with people on several occasions because I casually met someone who had family there. These people picked me up from the airport at 2am and treated me like family. It is beautiful to boot. I haven't taken the ferry but we car camped (literally slept in the car). I would most definitely take the Escape next time!! Maybe stay in the trailer and sleep during the crossing?? Ferries are much more stable than regular boats and shouldn't move very much.
