yes! I'll have some plan. Haven't been in the stage of my life yet that I can go where the wind blows me... until now. But I have to get mentally changed to that mode. I know those days are really nice. Before we never had the luxury of sitting around saying, "now what do you want to do" I didn't want to waste a second of precious vacation time in indecision or argument. ha! Especially if more people are involved. A group of 4 could waste an entire day trying to figure out what to do. And that's one vacation day I wouldn't enjoy!

I like that addition too. Know we will have plenty of adventure thru those steps! ha!

Schedule??

There's decent opinions in all directions, as usual. Thanks!! WE are still trying to make planning reservations going out..as there will be no 'rolling motel room' behind us, going west. Coming home. we can boondock if a CG/NP is not open.

One more thing to consider is..what will be the border crossing issues in mid June??. We figure ~6 days 'out to the Sumas area, a day there then a night camping near there..maybe at the KOA in Lynden, or thereabouts..heck we might even stay nearer the factory...or not..depending upon what the canucks are allowing that week.

Does anybody KNOW what the up to date 'local delivery issues' are TO Sumas?
Is there going to be a real orientation @ the factory or not?
IF you can even get to the Chilliwack area?
Heck, I hate to drive 5500 miles + have to sleep in a bunch of WALMARTS AND CRACKERBARRELS AND CASINO LOTS..AND not even GET a decent orientation or get to see any NPs on the way. I just checked..CA is still planning to NOT open NPs or SPs ...til August .
MAN..this lockdown BS is one reason we were hoping ETI was gonna come thru and set up their "USA facilities in AZ"... this year, esp since we were already planning a 'stop' in Scottsdale ;-)! LOL Dang.

Six months ago, if you would have asked whether to go pickup or have delivered and you had all the time necessary, I would have said...heck yes! Go pickup, seeing the factory and crusin' the highways both direction.. COOL. But now... not so much. So many things are closed, or limited to 'locals only.' How would you feel about being just a few miles from some 'attraction' you've always wanted to see, but can't right now due to the virus? You may never pass this way again. We don't have a crystal ball and don't know what's going to happen next month or July or August.... IMHO I'd save the stress of the 'what ifs' and have the trailer delivered. Save the time and stress and settle for closer to home camp outs. IF all you're doing is blasting to pickup the trailer and then blasting to get home, I don't think it would be worth the hassle or effort.

Be safe, be well.

Thanks! Still trying to plan a trip 'out there' to pick up our E21 next month. Hoping that things will be opening up in 30 days. Is there going to be any way to see a real factory orientation for our E21 w WD hitch/anti-sway bar on this new 'streaming' site?
The hitching issues bother me a bit bks we only had a std hitch and sway bar setup on the old Casita. AS for the rest of the orientation, we arranged to have installed most options except the invertor I guess. so a std orientation would probably do, and a visit TO the factory wd then NOT be necessary. WE plan to camp Canada next year up thru the UP of MI anyways.. Thanks. Fred

Canadians ( per polls ) want the border to remain closed. I wouldn't expect that position to change until there is a vaccine and/or a new administration.

As of today, there is no orientation in person, just on line and all delivery/ pick ups are in Sumas for US purchasers. With the border closed, you may not cross. If they open the border, there is a Best Western right next door to Escape where you can get a late check out on the morning of pick up. You can have orientation at the factory and then cross the border to Sumas for pick up, return back to the hotel to check out. Or check out in am, attend orientation, follow them across the border to Sumas and then leave from there. I believe the border crossing times are set like 10 am and 1 pm and possible another later one. Escape hires a third party to take the trailer across to Sumas.

As far as hitch issues, I'd google a hitch place near Sumas in US that can sell and install/set up the day of delivery.

Go for it Fred- am sure you will. Btw, in CA you can still disperse camp in National Forests. As of today my understanding is you cannot do same in OR or WA.

Life is a risk, however intelligent people usually respond appropriately.

ETI can't say for sure at this point when they will be able to resume on-site orientations. But another option would be to see if you can arrange to have one done now via livestreaming. Samuel is available for individual trailer tours and I'll bet you could arrange to get an orientation, possibly even in your actual trailer, done by him now via livestream.

Plan B

WE are now thinking of taking delivery in the Phoenix AZ area, in mid June. ....(near where we were gonna visit relatives on the way home) anyways..& save ~3000 miles of driving and get us past WA, OR and CA, all of which are 'closed down' anyways. AFAICT CA is not even allowing any NP or SP reservations til at least Aug, so to heck w CA. I believe Lead Dog Motorsports was the dealer near Phoenix. We have sent contact info to them.
Has anyone had any direct dealings w those guys at LDMS in Lake Havasu AZ??

One way to do it, I just wonder about delivery, you may have to be there for signatures vs delivery at POB and you pick up later.

Spoke w Randy Clary at Lead Dog today..he was helpful. Plan B is now to get w Melissa at ETI , to firm up the shipment TO Lk Havasu/Lead Dog Mortorsports. ETI told me they probably have several trailers to ship to that area soon and "probably we could save even MORE cash by "doubling up"..fine w me!!

Randy was ok w receiving the 21, setting up an inexpensive, simple hands-on orientation and set up our new-to-us WDH/SB rig. We plan to camp in the Havasu area 2-3 nites, see the sights and move on down to Scottsdale for 3-4 nites at one of several open Parks, we already know about, to do the family visit, where there are open CGs..then head on up to Sedona as CGs and SPs open up. Plan C may be whatever we can find open after that..and wend our way toward home on sorta along I-40 as it were.
..as we can. Looking 4ward to it. Gotta get out there and flippin CAMP!!!
Will try to send along info on CGs as we run into them along the way.
I figure this will save alot of driving, + allow us to see alot of what we had originally planned (back last winter) and avoid the hassle of storing some stuff at Sumas, for a Border crossing which we now do not hafta even make..plus save several 1000s miles of less wear and tear on the truck. Maybe we get to Yellowstone and el GRANDE ARROYO in 2021...IF they ever open up

We vote for delivery. We had a May 12 pickup scheduled. But we knew that the trip wouldn't be anything like we had planned, and were bound to be disappointed in the travel experience, during Covid. So we chose delivery and actually got it a couple days ago, May 11. Yeah we missed orientation, but the videos are great, and we sat in our trailer and watched on our laptop and could actually check things out as we watched. We did look forward to camping nearby factory so we could have Escape look at and take care of any issues we may have and we do have one we'd like them to see. But they can still help from afar, with photos and video. And you can't really beat the delivery prices right now. That definitely worked in our favor. So, now that we have trailer, we are having fun loading it up and learning its systems and are going to camp next week, nearby our home. Once you make the delivery decision, you won't look back. Life is full of surprises, gotta roll with it.

Hollybee,
One of the realizations of today is that one can not plan anything. There are only 3 days now, yesterday, today and tomorrow, nothing else. Just about every rally has been cancelled, most state and national parks are closed as well as campgrounds. Then you have the quarantine rules, you being from out of state may require you to quarantine in Arizona and or New Mexico as the native americans in the southwest have been hit really hard with this virus, I read that the entire town of Gallup, NM is closed to outsiders because of this. You may have to take delivery and head home as that maybe your only choice right now.

Isn't that the truth. Attached is a jpeg of BC's Covid 19 performance for the last two months and it shows if you have someone in charge who knows what they are doing (Dr Bonnie Henry) then you can make a difference. I don't think there is a single state that can match that record so why would we jeopardise it by opening the border. I usually make 2 or 3 month long trips to the states but can't see myself doing that for a long while.Click image for larger version
