Use it to keep there beer cold, I figure.
I use to take it home but it always melted before I got there. But then I got smart and would pick up a bag at Safeway so the wife wouldn't be suspicious... ...nod..nod....

First Camping Trip of 2012

We went down to Florida to visit our new granddaughter. Stayed in the Fiver and stayed out of their way. What a nice first trip for the year. Last weekend in VA Beach for Easter (First Landing State Park). Great times both.

Re: First Camping Trip of 2012

My first (and only, but it is for 5 months) just got put on hold. Was leaving today, started up the refrigerator on Monday & it didn't get cold. Since it is under warranty I took it down to Camping World in Syracuse (the nearest authorized Dometic service) & the end result is the cooling unit is bad. Big bucks, sure glad it is under warranty, but it has to be ordered from Dometic - Who knows how long that will take.

At least it failed on start up - would have been a hugh pain if it failed once I hit the road. I've had problems off & on with getting it to cool since it was new - maybe that was the reason? In any case, unless it gets here in the next day or two I'm afraid I will miss the 5th Annual SE Spring Eggscursion in Townsend, TN.

Re: First Camping Trip of 2012

We took our first trip of the year last weekend. We never loaded with water because we knew we would have some at our destination. When draining the water last fall, I may have forgotten to open the flush valve on the toilet, and had a major leak there. It seems it froze up, so I too have a bit of repair to do. Fortunately we really did not need any water other than what we brought for coffee.

Re: First Camping Trip of 2012

I'm not sure I would know what to do if we didn't go camping every month. We used to live in the Midwest, so we are very familiar with cold weather, but warmer climates are much better for us now. We've got 5400 miles on our Escape so far this year.

Re: First Camping Trip of 2012

Hi Escape Artist,

Sounds like your traveling the whiskey trail? Maker's Mark is a good little tour on the whiskey trail with beautifully, well kept grounds. Those big black painted storage barns built to age whiskey really standout on the landscape. My wife and I traveled Kentucky and Tenn. by vette a couple of years ago. We enjoyed the culture, people, and landscape.

Re: First Camping Trip of 2012

We are starting slow.. we thought it best just to do a quick local 4 day trip close to home..kind-of break in the travel mode.. anyway we're at Coyote Lake - Harvey Bear Ranch ( 2 hours south of SF - it's a county park).. We'll do a quick review of it and post it up on the site when we get back.. I using my phone to post..

Re: First Camping Trip of 2012

I'm on my first camping trip of 2012 in my newborn 19. Posting this from the Riverside Resort campground in Whistler BC with a view out my back window of Blackcomb mountain at dusk. Nice!

Since I'm new to this I wanted a short shakedown cruise and to get in some great spring skiing at the same time. I left the hatchery April 10 and stayed the first night enroute at beautiful Porteau Cove along the sea to sky highway. Trailer has been perfect. Even tested out the solar cell and led lights. No trouble maintaining comfortable sleeping temps with the furnace only -2c overnight temperatures here. I've just got the single 12v battery which gets down to around 60% at sunrise but back up to a full charge by noon. Going to be up here till Friday April 20 then have to back to work for a week Starting early May I'm towing all the way east to the maritimes. Will keep you updated.

You must. That's a trip we hope to be taking upon retirement.
If you can figure out a way to skip most of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, please let us know.

That's not to say that Stockholm, Sask. isn't worth a visit. I spent six months of my childhood there. Went to grade 2 there in a one-room schoolhouse ( grades 1 - 7 ) with no water ( we took turns carrying it from the farmhouse about a half mile away ), with an outhouse that contained all the softball mitts, balls and bats that belonged to the sports program ( I guess we weren't into sports ). We had electricity because I remember throwing rocks at the glass insulators on the power pole. We were on a party-line with a phone that had a crank. Three long and a short, as I recall. And it was OK to smoke in front of the adults because they didn't want us hiding in the hay barn and burn it down.

May you have as many adventures.

baglo

Hi: daveandsandyclink... Maker's Mark was worth every penny of the No Charge tour and the samples weren't shabby either. It was a lot harder to find than a used Escape but then back in history Stills didn't want to be found!!! Alf
