First Trip - looking for suggestions

Hi All,

We are planing our first trip in our 21C in two weeks, we are in the San Francisco bay area and looking for suggestions for our first trip.

I've been looking at Arnold or Angels Camp so we can go up to bear valley for a little skiing/tubing.

Has anyone camped in those areas, suggestions for places to stay

Thank you in advance

Kelly

Unless you plan to dry camp (no hook-ups) plan to have reservations or you'll get shut out. Everyone who ever had a camper is on the move.

Calaveras Big Trees State Park is up that way....I haven't camped there, though, in a month of Sundays.

If you want the shore, and close to home, you could try Doran Beach or Stillwater Cove (Both Sonoma County Parks. Neither has hookup and Doran is pretty popular. I think Lake Solano (Solano County Park) is open for camping now; it's one of my favorite close to home spots. There are some sites with electric.

My grands have the week before Easter as spring break, but some schools may have the week after, which sounds like your target. I hope you find a great spot!

I was also going to recommend Calavaras Big Trees SP, too but I think that park is closed until mid-May? Highly recommend Calavaras Big Trees, when you get a chance. Great hiking. Golden Pines RV resort and campground, is close by in Arnold, and might work for you, if they are open. Wherever you end up, hope you have a great 1st trip out! Congrats, -Bea
