Harrison Hot Springs
Has anyone stayed at Harrison Hot Springs? I am thinking of arriving a day early, spending that day relaxing and soaking in a hot mineral pool after a long trip from Austin.

The primary hotel has a quite nicely relatively newly renovated pool and spa area. The hotel itself is historic. I'd get a room in the new tower. That gets u nice white robes to impress people with on your trip to the pool.
There are other less expensive hotel/motels and u can go to the public much older hot pool

We spent a few days there in January when we submitted our final build sheet. The hot spring pools are delightful and set in a beautiful environment. The hotel was okay, but nothing special. Lots of great walking/hiking paths close to the resort. Avoid the resort's "Copper Room." Grossly overpriced and at best, mediocre food. If your a "foodie'" have dinner at Morgan's, just a block away from the resort.

Harrison Beach Hotel is the best hotel in Harrison IMHO, and tripadvisor concurs When we got married we booked out of town family there and everyone commented on how wonderful the accommodations were. I've also stayed at the older Resort hotel and while it has hot springs onsite, it doesn't come close to the HBH. You can access hot springs at the local public pool a short walk away. And the forementioned Morgan's Restaurant is next door to the HBH.

When we lived down in that region, you couldn't beat the hot seafood dip and a Guinness at the Old Settler Pub just around the corner from the hotel.
Cheers

Agreed, Doug. We've eaten at the Old Settler's Pub several times; nice place!

I couldn’t help sharing our own experience with the Harrison Hot Springs Resort as an alternate view. First, I wouldn’t recommend this place for just an overnight sleep., but it can be a great experience for someone who has been on the road for a couple of weeks and would like to luxuriate in this beautiful natural setting. You ought to spend at least a full day or more there to enjoy the facilities. View it as a “treat yourself” stay.
I can agree that the hotel itself isn’t in great shape, like the carpets in some hallways need replacing, curtain backing in our room was disintegrating, etc. But we come back each year because of the outdoor hot pools and heated swimming pool. (They also have an indoor pool). Last month we sat in the adult pool as snow came down, melting in our hair (next time will bring hats) and watched the white stiff accumulate on the mountain just beyond the hotel. Rain or shine the pools are great. We also swam in the heated swimming pool and often had it to ourselves. In contrast, the public pool in town is NOT a great experience.
And the Copper Room may be expensive, but the food has always been very good, as has the service and of course the cost covers the music and dancing. The band (The Jones Boys) is very good and if you enjoy dancing or just good music (not hip hop!) they are capable of giving you a great evening. They cater their sets to the crowd, so if you have a few requests you can change the evening to suit your taste in music. Besides the ballroom dancing music they do great jazz, rock and pop. This past time we particularly enjoyed their “Smooth” by Santana and “Into The Mystic” by Van Morrison.
The hotel bar has some really great food and tasty local beers ((, (yes slightly overpriced like most hotels). wW opted to have lunch there rather than trekking out to into the rain for cheaper fare. Same thing for their breakfast smorgasbord, very good especially the omelets made to order.
We often use their lounge and game table off the long lobby to visit and play cards with friends and family. BTW we usually opt for a two night package with 1 dinner at the Copper Room and 2 breakfasts. Not to say that there aren't other good places to stay in town and good places to eat, but we keep coming back to the resort.

Those rates look pretty good; wish I had known about it- would've stayed there prior to orientation. The soak would be good tonic for the anticipation. Drove by it last May when getting warranty work done; the surrounding area is very quaint.
Also, we notice that when hot springs get bought up and renovated, guess what- they jack up the rates too! This seems like a gem.

Made reservations at Hot Springs Villa Hotel for 2 nights. Unfortunately the hotel only had rooms in the rear available. So we will have a mountain view, not a lake view. But still the hotel and area looks like a good place to unwind and relax for a day after driving more than 2400 miles in late July.
