By the way, especially with full-timing now, how is your RM2510 fridge doing? I’ve read and reread your mods thread several times. Ours is fine in moderate weather but falters in the heat. Freezer is fine, but can’t get a low enough temp in the fridge. Already did insulation around, outside fans, and just cleaned burner and jet. Getting desperate for solution now. Going to do a new propane regulator, a fan unit on the internal evaporator fins and look again to see if a sheet metal baffle around the condenser might help. No good replacement for the RM2510 that fits that I am aware of.

First thing the tech did on my trailer is test the regulator and replace it.

No specific testing, but my feeling is all the mods gave us about 5 deg increase in ambient temp. Above about 85F outside we have to start turning the know up. Above about 90F we have real trouble keeping the fridge to temp. Depends a lot on how long it's hot, sun direction, etc. I think running the AC helps some, it should, it keeps the front "cool". We wonder if an Amish cooling unit would help much?

I think the only real "solution" is to get a Danfoss (12V DC) compressor fridge. But that would involve at least one more solar panel and to carry a backup generator. Would still likely have done it but the available refrigerators won't quite fit the cut out. An being fulltime the disruption of the mods would be a hastle.

But being fulltime, we'll likely aim for locations with highs at or below 85F. Life is good.

Jon Vermilye nearly travels fulltime. He has a list of journals from fiberglass trailer folk. Could likely track down some fulltimes using those journals/blogs.

There's at least a handful or two. We'll keep our eyes out.

Hugh: Thanks for the follow-up. My experience is almost identical to yours. Besides the new propane regulator and evaporator fan module I previously mentioned I might also consider venting the flue out of the shell directly similar to what Ron in BC was contemplating awhile back. Apparently this is done as normal course in other parts of the world. This keeps the hot flue gases from heating up the cavity and impacting the condenser coil that wants cool air.
