Osoyoos and points east….

Is the Crowsnest Highway a good scenic way from Osoyoos to Lethbridge? Trying to decide on options to see the country if I make it to the rally this year? Thanks.

That's the route I've taken numerous times to fish Crowsnest River.
And, yes, it is scenic. Couple challenging hills too. (Salmo / Creston ).

Thanks, we are trying to get the stars lined up right and the moon and sun in their proper orbits in order to make the ETI rally. Have you seen "Head smashed in buffalo jump", an UNESCO site in Leftbridge? Was it interesting?

Wow, are you trying to get the "Most distance traveled to the meet" award?

We stopped at the "Head smashed in" site. Yes, very worth it and extremely well done.

Here's where I camp and fish the Crowsnest:

Yes, I like the Crowsnest Highway. In this case (Osoyoos to Lethbridge) it is also the most direct route. Some people are freaked out by this road, even driving just cars, but I have not had any problems, driving cars, a van, van with travel trailer, or large motorhome. I do recommend taking the signs providing recommended cornering speeds seriously.

I haven't been there for near 20 years, but it is a great place to visit. So is the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre in the Crowsnest Pass. Lots of great insight into the history of the area.

Chinook Provincial Recreation Area is a nice place to camp too. It is in the Pass as well, just inside the Alberta border.

Lundbreck Falls that baglo referred to, is worth at least a stop for a gander.

Another great campground just off of Hwy 3 SE of Fernie, BC, is Kikomun Creek Provincial Park.

Lots of places to visit along the route.

The buffalo jump is well worth the visit, excellent interpretive centre. It is located NW of Ft. McLeod on highway 3. The Frank Slide Interpretive centre was redone a few years ago and is world class as well. If you have time to slip down to Waterton National Park it is worth it too. As for points west in BC, lots to see and do along the route or just off of it. The road is a little crooked and has a few hills but well worth the vistas and just seeing new country. If you have not been yet, you may wonder why it took you so long to go that route.

We live just 30 minutes off that route in Kimberley B.C. and will be at the Rally Fri and Sat. There is a well run good sam campground in the town (city) of Cranbrook. The campground is within walking distance to a safeway if you need a nice place to stay and stock up. The town also has some of the box stores if that's your thing. Both east and west Kootenay valleys have lots to offer. Fort Steele is a historic site just a few miles outside of Cranbrook. Lots of historic buildings and local history if you spend a day there. I think you would enjoy the drive, a good highway, but winds around a bit to get from one valley to another.

Thanks everyone for their input, seems like a nice place and nice drive. Now if we can just get this snow to stop falling, Spring may be able to come out of the closet.

This winter it has felt like I am living in a snow globe, and someone keeps shaking it.

Good way to go to ETI

I was looking over the route you talk about. Looks like a good way to go from the East to Chilliwack to pick up a trailer. A little farther than the route Google would send you, but looks like a spectacular drive?

East to west or west to east is a very long drive , and likely a wonderful experience no matter which route . If one were inclined to dawdle a bit "the Greatest Outdoor Show onEarth " happens in Calgary from July 3-14 !

By passed the salmo creston route this time but was amazed by the road heading into Osoyoos from the Kootneys. Amazing.

Drove on the road to get to the observatory b&b but staying "on the strip" per co-pilot's wishes.

Came into Osoyoos from #3. Wow. Beautiful place, change of scenery and avoided the Seattle rat race. Loren
