An old lock on the Coosa river tonight at Rome, GA. Ft Tolousie / Jackson earlier in the trip was further S on the same river. Across AL and back to Trace State Park outside of Tupelo tomorrow. We will go back to the Natchez Trace for part of the drive. On Thursday, we will continue back down the Trace to Vicksburg and hang out a few days.

Driving the Trace to Vicksburg. No pictures, just stopping at the spots that have nature trails to walk.

Your photos from Cades Cove look very reminiscent to the ones we took on our trip to the Great Smoky Mountains NP around Labor Day this year. Very nice! The big exceptions are your black bear sightings. We had our eyes peeled for black bear the whole trip, but this is the only “view” we got. I swear there’s a mama bear and two cubs in this photo

Spent the day wandering the Vicksburg battlefield. Only took one picture, but the history and scale of the siege is well presented. Picture is USS Cairo gunboat.

Nice woodworking on that relic

Nothing much new, under the Sun. Interesting photo of the steam bent wood ribs to that craft.
Vicksburg, in my befuddled memory of the history, was quite a battle.

Let's hope and pray we don't see that sort of division again.

Downtown Vicksburg today. Not as well kept as Natchez. Lots of maintenance on the antebellum buildings is needed. I took a few pictures. Probably a day of relaxing tomorrow, but may not be warm enough to just hang outside. This is an older private park without fire rings.

Not enough service to upload pictures. I’ll try later.

For some reason the pictures posted without loading as uploaded or available to preview.

Indian Creek reservoir last night. Awoke to flat truck tire with nail in it. Swapped tires. On the way to Rainbows End Escapees park to see my parents for Thanksgiving. They live at CARE there. In the past they have worked for the club and were on the CARE board as it was developed.

Saw a coyote chasing a deer this morning.

You are welcome. Without this forum, I probably wouldn’t take any pictures, but the zoom on the phone does make it more useful.

Life happens whether at home or on the road. We had 50F temps, no rain, and were parked on level concrete not on the road. Pretty good for dealing with a nail in a tire. We are here at my folks most of a week, so plenty of time to take care of it. All in all, not a big deal, but thanks for your concern. Nobody likes dealing with a flat. I carry a bottle jack, some lumber, and an impact, so it’s really pretty easy.

On our way to McAlrster, OK tomorrow. We had a nice time with my parents and did some projects they can no longer do. We will be on Lake Eufala for our last night before going home Tuesday night. Two longer days of driving than normal, but we’ve made plans with people at home. It’s been another fun trip just like the past 53 years of trips.
