Have done some short trips, but not what for us is a “proper” trip in a while. Left yesterday. Stayed in Mansfield, MO for the night. Will stop just west of the Mississippi River today. Tomorrow, David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg, TN to spend most of the next two weeks meandering the Natchez Trace before heading to Savannah.

I rode the entire Trace on my Harley with a buddy a few years ago. Really, really enjoyed it.
Word of warning! The police were "everywhere" writing tickets for any speed over the posted limit. I think it was 45 MPH. In the 400+ drive we saw at least 20 people being ticketed.
If you get down that far be sure to stop and check out Vicksburg National Military Park.
The Ranger tows the Escape 19 very well. I bought the Ranger specifically for towing the Escape. My C2500 tows it well also.
We will wander the whole trace. We’ve been before, just not in the fall. When we come back from Cades Cove, we have a few days planned to hang out around Vicksburg.
In Tennessee. We will start wandering the Trace tomorrow. Put the first ding in the truck today. Right back in into a right turning site. I could see the tongue, but not the top of the storage box that cracked the tail light lens. Ford sells the whole thing. $1500. I’ll search wrecking yards when I get home for just the part. I caulked it for the time being to keep water out.
Noodling around in the phone tonight, no one makes tail light guards for the North American current Ranger, but used to new, lights where I replace my module are $225-835. So at least not the $1500 I first was quoted.

I cracked my old f150 tail lense a couple of times, cheap. The new blis module taillights are extremely expensive. Our new truck doesn’t have it, so tail lenses are still cheap. Hopefully you can save the module

Please let us know of any gems you discover along The Trace: sites to see, hikes, campgrounds, etc. I'm planning a trip there next fall, though a bit later in the season, so will be most interested. Thanks for taking the time to share your journeys.

We've travelled the Trace 2X. A March trip brought us a gorgeous trip into a developing Spring riot of flowering, blossoming, greening landscape the further South we drove. A follow-up a few years later was cut short with rain, cold and clouds. That's weather!
We’ve done it, just not in the fall. It’s always hard to know the best timing from year to year, but freezing the next two nights should help our quest for fall trees. The trip start date was determined by being in Texas for Thanksgiving with my parents.
