Truck & RV insurance for Mexico

Looking for recommendations on where to get truck & trailer insurance for traveling to Mexico. I've found a couple places online... looks like it'll be about $600 for full coverage for a 15 day period. Wow!

Does that sound about right? Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

Yah, that sounds about right. Short term insurance is relatively expensive. It does vary depending on the total value of the truck and trailer. I think that we decided if we needed more than 21 days insurance it was almost as cheap to just get a 6 month policy.

There's lots of places that sell insurance and they all seem to use about the same 3 underwriters. We get ours through Lewis and Lewis.

We use Lewis and Lewis. For 6 months into 5 Mexican states we paid less than $400. AAA sells Mexican insurance, right at the border is Sanborne although they will be higher. Look around, your quote sounds way to high.

I am an AAA member. I looked their website up to get a vehicle insurance quote for travel in Mexico.

Here is what I just learned:

For 31 days, Baja and Sonora states only, 2014 Silverado 1500 and 2013 trailer, 2 persons, medical travel insurance.

Extended coverage $769.84. (physical damage, theft, vandalism, total theft, fixed deductibles, 3rd party liability, Uninsured motorist, legal assistance, medical payments.)

Liability only coverage, $230.28.

I just ran MyronL's rig through Lewis and Lewis. Came up with around $300, there are some add on policies that will up the price. The major caravan companies recommend Lewis and Lewis for all their trips to Mexico, including the long distance Yucatan ones which go through most Mexican states. I have read testimonials about Lewis and Lewis paying out, they are not a fly by night. We get a 6 month policy for barely more than the 30 day policy. We insure our tug and trailer for $45K.
