Visiting New Mexico

Updated at 3:18 p.m. Monday:
A spokesman for the New Mexico Department of Health clarified an executive order regarding travel into the state Monday.
David Morgan clarified that any out-of-state travelers planning to stay overnight to New Mexico must self-quarantine for at least 14 days or "for the duration of their presence in the state, whichever is shorter."
That means out-of-state travelers can stay for fewer than two weeks, but they’ll need to quarantine that entire time. That also means not leaving their hotel room/RV/rental unless for medical reasons.
People can still travel through the state without being required to quarantine if they're not staying overnight.
New Mexico residents who visit the out-of-state travelers while they’re quarantining, those residents must also quarantine for 14 days.

Saw that message on a big electric board across I-40 today, on my way into ABQ. Have to wonder how that is going to work. Does it mean now I can forget about camping up in Colorado Forest service land?

We went thru there last month after picking up the 21 in Phoenix..most were wearingf masks in NM..hardly none in AZ. Masks are stifling in that heat and we rarely wear them...as I have asthma..

I have asthma, too, and that is a big part of the reason that I wear a mask every time I go inside any business and also why I try never to go inside where others are not wearing masks.

I just got back from dispersed camping in Lincoln National Forest, near Cloudcroft NM. I was vaguely aware of the the quarantine requirement, but saw absolutely no enforcement. other than camping, I stopped for gas once, and groceries 2 times in Alamogordo. I noticed almost everyone wearing masks, and I wore one too.

watch out for pushback from locals, I got yelled at once "no out of state campers", but wasn't too concerned. actually, the local paper back home was running ads inviting TX residents to visit NM, they love, and miss us, but please wear a mask. cheers

I have been looking at RV Parks in New Mexico for a trip (hopefully) the end of next month. I was considering a stay for one night @ Coronado Campground in Bernalillo. But, according to the web site for the campground, no out of state visitors will be admitted. And the campground at a maximum of 50% capacity. Ps: A city run campground.
