Voyageurs National Park

We are panning a trip to Voyageurs NP in September from LR, Arkansas. We are traveling with another couple. We plan to take 3-4 days to drive to the NP, camp around the area for 8-10 days. Any suggestions for places to camp? Also, areas that are a "must" visit. We need 50 amp hook up for our friends 5th wheel. Thanks so much.

In September 2006 I stayed at Arrowhead Lodge on Kabetogama Lake. Although I stayed in the lodge, Arrowhead also has an RV park. Unfortunately their website says the RV park has only 30A service, but it might be worth a call:

September is a good time of year to see the aurora borealis. I did, and it was amazing. The leaves are turning then as well.

30 amp is all you need (or can use) with a stock Escape trailer. The park is primarily designed for watercraft, although there is stuff to see in the area.

Inside the Voyageurs NP visitors center is a large map of the lake. I was puzzled by a dotted line that went from the south shore to the north, winding its way among the islands. I was told that in the winter that is a state highway.

The Pines of Kabetogama Campground
12443 Burma Rd
Kabetogama, Minnesota 56669
