Want a campsite at Capitol Reef NP April 1-4?
I have a reservation for site 69 in C Loop at Fruita Campground in Capitol Reef NP for the nights of April 1,2,3 and 4 that we will not be able to use. If you would like to grab a site there for all or part of this period send me a PM. When I cancel it in the online reservations system, it will show up almost immediately as available and if we coordinate that timing and you are online and checking you should be able to book it. The odds of anyone else looking at those same dates at the same moment are low - most of the big rush is each day when new sites become available 6 months ahead.
Capitol Reef has no hookups, but there is water and a dump station and the campground is a wonderful little wooded oasis in the middle of the red rock cliffs of that area. This is a large back-in site that anyone can easily maneuver into with plenty of room to spare.
A big bonus at Capitol Reef is that right next to the campground is the Gifford House museum and store. They have a grand assortment of homemade pies daily, as well as sourdough bread and sweet rolls. It's kind of a tradition there to wake up in the morning and walk over to the Gifford House to load up, you will see people walking back to their campsites throughout the morning carrying their little bags of treats.
