I was blown away on our recent Utah vacation of how well a F250 long bed 7.3 diesel 4x4 handles gnarly dirt roads. I steered that truck through miles of gnarly slot canyons and washes and rutted grades and washboard and stuff, and it was a total trooper. only had to use 4L a few times in the slot canyon to climb up rock steps. brand new BFGoodrich A/T KO2 tires helped a lot, I'm sure. this truck weighs 6600 lbs curb, and 8800 lbs GVWR. we were somewhere in the middle as there was a bunch of gear in the back of the truck.

Kodachrome Basin State Park isn't a bad location for some milky way observations:

indeed, on Saturday evening the ranger-interpreter was hosting a star party with the park's 11" Meade LX200.... I asked, and showed up with my 20" f/5 Obsession Classic we only had a half dozen visitors but I got to show them some seriously cool stuff in great detail... My target list included M13, the great globular cluster in Hercules; M4, the 'cats eye' globular cluster in Scorpio; M52, the Whirlpool Galaxy; and the Leo Triplet of 3 galaxies that fit in the same field of view. while you can easily see any of these objects in a smaller scope, the depth of detail you get from a 20" mirror is stunning.

We've been working our way across the Atlantic Provinces for the past several weeks. Some of the places we've seen -

Alma, NB harbor at low tide. Alma is located just outside of Fundy National Park where we stayed in the Cheticamp campground.

Great images. Where abouts in Canada will you be camping?

June 12, 2012 @ 2:28AM (assuming the Nikon D700 clock was set to the correct time - I was traveling).

If you have an EXIF reader, most of my images include full EXIF data, including, when I remember to turn it on, GPS location data.

Out my side window. I've towed the full length of the Valley of the Gods. Met up with a couple serious dips down into the gully and did come close to getting stuck going up and over one or two of them, but it is doable. About 30 miles of dirt and dust.

You must have purchased an add-on GPS receiver to embed the location data?

Only a handful of cameras have a built in GPS receiver. With the Fuji X-T3 my work around involves using a Fuji app on the phone which links to the camera. EXIF location data is then imputed from the phone to the camera.

On this trip we have been to Chignectro CG at Fundy NP, NB; Five Islands Provincial Park, NS; Cheticamp CG at Cape Breton Highlands NP, NS; Northumberland Provincial Park, PEI and Cavendish CG, PEI NP.
On the way to Jacques Cartier Provincial Park, PEI; South Kouchibouguac CG, Kouchibouguac NP, NB; Sugarloaf Provincial Park, NB; Forillon NP, QC and Bic NP, QC.
Back to US in early July.
Cheryl's put up a slide show with many photos of what we've seen since we left home in May (not all in Canada) on the Home page of her website.

You and your wife have made our planned trip to the Maritimes a cinch. We are simply going to use your itinerary. A big thanks!

The White Mountains in NH on a cool rainy day. Enjoying a hot coffee in our warm, dry, and cozy Escape is one of our simple pleasures.

Wish we had a cool rainy day instead of waking to air conditioning running to maintain 79 degree inside and 50% rhi vs outside 93 and 98% humidity! Give me cold anytime.

While we are not camping, I just had to share. This is the view today from our back porch in Skagafjorour, Iceland. We are on a two week self drive around the Ring Road. The sites are amazing! Click image for larger version
