Yes, but probably a different model of Carefree as it needs to fit the new body style of the 2017 models. Escape will not be offering an electric Carefree of Colorado model. I asked because the Carefree HQ is in my home town and I was rooting for them. Looks like interference with the door might be the deal killer.

Nope. The new model has a case awning (no arms mounted on the side of the trailer). You apparently can get one with a motor, or a manual crank one -- but it's still the new style. The recess at the top of the shell is specifically there to accommodate the new case awnings. The ones with arms don't use a recess.

New awning

We can also confirm that it is a very bad idea to leave the awning fully extended overnight if heavy rain is expected. "Don't ask me how I know this". The awning will fill with a terrifying amount of water. If will however survive the experience. "So I am told".

It is clear that Escape is using the shell recess for the awning as a design element. The case awnings can of course be mounted flush on a trailer and are in fact done that way on most models. The recessed awning looks well integrated on the new models, but it appears the recessed design may limit you on the models of awnings that could potentially be used on the trailer...by Escape in the future or as an owner modification. The shell recess also is aesthetically not the best if an owner wanted to opt for no awning, but that is probably quite rare and even so there are bigger problems in life. It will be interesting to see how the new awnings perform over time and how new owners like their functionality.
