21 owner looking for feedback on 5.0 TA

I don't. Sit, foot on the middle stair, right foot steps down to the bottom stair as I stand and go down... and I'm all the way down. I go up the stairs basically doing the toddler walk, hands and feet. Doesn't matter to me, how I go up and down as long as it's safely. I typically only go up and down to go to bed and to get up in the morning. Unlike my sticks 'n bricks home where I'm up and down stairs a lot during the day. I own a tri-level home and there are stairs everywhere! Honestly, I go in and out of my trailer a whole bunch more during the day, then ever the trailer to sleep. YMMV

We don't, we scoot down the bed sit up and step down frontwards, of course the bar helps

We go down forward. I did put in two bars to help. One where the thermostat is and one at the foot of the mattress where the small wall faces the front of the trailer. Both on the port side. While I go up and down slowly our golden retriever sprints.

I love the way a fifth wheel tows, and the smaller turning radius. I also like the separation between the sleeping area and the rest of the trailer. Creates a two room feel. And with the new twin bed option, its a winner!

What I don't like is losing the bed of the truck.

All in all, probably our next trailer will be the Escape fifth wheel.

If you buy enough truck you don't lose the bed.

We have now looked at a 21' and a 5.0TA. Both look like great campers and we could be happy with either one. First impression of the interior is from the bed back the 21' appeared more spacious than the 5.0. Aisle appeared wider and the dining area appeared about equal. The bath looked bigger also in the 21. Of course the "bedroom" looked larger with more storage in the 5.0 Are these observations accurate or did our eyes fool us.

Your perception is correct, the 21/5.0 are similar from the door rearward with the exception the bathroom does not intrude on the street side in the 21, giving the area a more spacious look and feel. The bath in the 21 is larger also, but at the sacrifice of the bed size. Tradeoffs are common in life.....

The 21' has a cabin length of 18', while the 5.0TA is 20' if that matters to you.

Started out looking at the 21 but switched when we saw the 5TA. You hardly know your towing anything and having the bed over the truck bed makes for a shorter tow length. Combine that with the separate bedroom and the queen sized bed and we made an instant decision. Opinions vary but let’s just say both are great rigs. No bad choices here.

We have only had the 5.0, first a single axle older smaller unit and now the 5.0TA. Agree with Mark on what he's said but wanted to add that some including us have said they do not like coming through the door with the bed directly in front of you. But as Mark said there are "no bad choices here."

Thanks for the reply. My wife agrees with you on bed placement. Also I get a ton of compliments on the cockpit door. 2016 was the last year. FYI I have been to Emerson Manitoba. Originally from Regina and Winnipeg. Nice place!

This is an old thread, but I'm going to add a comment.

IF you hate ladders, do NOT get a 5.0TA. Laudy, I just spent 5 hours giving Ten Forward a bath. Between dragging the ladder and going up and down, I bet I put in 50 thousand million steps. I'm exhausted. Yes I know even with a 21' a ladder is needed. But boy the top at nearly 10 feet up on a 5.0TA is scary (to ME) on a 6' step ladder. I'm asking Santa for a taller step ladder or save my money and have it painted flat camo. Then I'd never need to wash it again

I use a long soft brush on an extendable pole for washing the sides and that works well for me without needing a ladder. I have a Telesteps telescoping step ladder and have found that it works pretty well for accessing the roof. The top of the ladder has substantial rubber bumpers on it that don't mar the gelcoat when I lean it against the trailer. I don't take this ladder on the road with me, have a folding step ladder in a sewer tube for travel, but at home I find it more stable using the extension ladder than moving a step ladder all around.
