Bathroom grab bar?

Is there any kind of grab bar built into the bathroom? If not, can one be added in the build or do I just need to get a wall reinforced for that? I'm assuming the toilet is low enough that it could at some point be an issue or is it tight enough that one could just brace against walls for a little extra assistance? I don't need it now but thinking ahead that if I get a new trailer I should plan for ten years from now. (17b, not sure of difference in sizes of bathrooms.)

Our Escape bathroom came without a grab bar or a reinforced wall
Now that my knees have gone bad I wish we did
Not getting the reinforced bathroom wall was a mistake on my part , and one I regret .
In hindsight the cost and weight of reinforcing the wall seem rather minor .

There are always those suction handles available and I have one on the back wall next to the medicine cabinet. I also did have that wall reinforced, but not for grab bar but teak towel bars. The corner is reinforced as stock so that maybe an option. I have several of the suction units left over when I was my mom's caregiver and now have one at home and in the Escape.

I removed the wood screw holding the shower line bracket, built this grab bar and replaced the screw for it with a machine screw and nut going completely through the wall into the closet side. No new holes needed, has been solid.

Note to self: The Stugvik bars will not hold you and may come loose at an inopportune time and smack you in the mouth.
Again as I just posted on another thread, experience is the best teacher But only a fool needs it. Them are pretty small suction cups after all.

I have a 17B and I have used the sink as an assist. No need to buy or install anything. And, no suction cup devices that let go when you least expect it.

I've been reluctant to grab hold of the sink so am glad to know that it'll hold if/as needed! And it does seem that I'm needing that "lift" a bit more often of late.

The hinge side of the bathroom door is quite substantial. I attached a ‘grab bar’ much like the one Escape used by the entry door but in white.
The bottom of the grab bar is just above the top of the sink faucet so there is no interference.

Works well

Well, you take your seat and then you lean forward and reach straight out with one arm, and that's how you can tell if the grab bar might be too far away, and if a leap of faith is required. That's what I did.

A grab bar make sense to me, as long as it's placed where it will work for you. Meg and I installed grab bars in our shower and bathroom for her elderly father to use during his visits. Now I use them, and I'm glad they are there. Shower floors are slippery!

Which would be in a house with 2 X 4 or 2 X 6 stud walls sheathed in waterproof concrete board. The shower walls in my Escape can be moved 1/8 inch with light finger pressure.

Bobbie seeing how you did your shelving you could do this solution . The only thing I don’t know your trailer ? If you have access a closet or closet on wall of your shower . All you need is adding the length to go from one corner to corner a say 3/4/ply about 4 in wide . Using only 3/4 screws adding that piece of wood going across the inside of closet ? You could screw to the framing in each corner . At the Home Depot , Lowe’s etc really nice stainless handicap bars . There are different lengths . Could be also used for wash cloths etc if you have a little longer . Using stainless 3/4 screws attach inside bath making sure you screw into that wood you added in closet . That is what will hold your bar. You want to predrill in the shower wall where you will screw into. Some of these bars are very attractive having covers after you have installed to cover the screws . They are not expensive . We also have them added in our showers at home . I installed them after my mother fell getting out of her shower at her home . Then decided would add at home . Pat

One side is kitchen ( see pic ). Other side is front dinette ( see pic ). You could probably screw a grab bar to the floor, but better caulk it well.

Bobbie the wall you have there you could add a nice piece of Oak and do exactly what I said to do . The Oak because it would show . Up to you but I wouldn’t use sink to grab on or the stick on bars I wouldn’t trust . It’s up to you l Pat

I expect the sink is screwed into wood blocks that are epoxied to the fibreglass wall, as are the cupboards etc.

I've used it on occasion as a support.

The shower walls are a thin liner so suction devices would only pull the liner apart.

While seated on the toilet, to your left is the door to the shower. In the front to the right is the sink, to the right is the shower wall and behind you is another wall ( not sure how that would work ).

Can't think of a better plan than to take a seat in a 17B bathroom and think about it.
