Bed width in a 17B
We are still shopping for a used Escape 17B (or a similar Casita), but may end up buying new...
I am liking everything I see about the 17B - except the width of the bed. (49x77). We've been camping in a tent trailer ("pop-up") and the bed was king size. At home, our bed is a queen size.
Is 49" wide enough for an average size couple?

The folks we bought our 17B from last September were at least average size...he was 6'2 and they used a double sleeping bag. We slept separately; keeping the double usually left as a bed and easily converting the single into our bistro table. We sleep on a king at home and-at least like one other couple-may sleep separately in the 21. Snore wars.

Depends if you like to sleep "together". We share the double with a 40 lb. beagle and sleep just fine.

My husband is 6'2" and I'm close to 5'8", we're both of a slimmer build. The bed in the 17B is very comfortable for the two of us. At home we sleep in a queen sized water bed, but the 49" wide bed in the trailer is just fine. We have a double width memory foam on top of the bed in the trailer, which effectively narrows it a smidge by running up the wall, but we happily sleep "together" and find the bed very comfortable.

The one against the wall gets to climb over the other, but that just adds to the adventure.
I usually sleep on the front dinette (lower bunk) and the wife and daughter on the aft big bed so we all have room. The aft big bed can be cozy but it sure beats a tent.

Lindy and I are both on the smallish side (but not as small as we used to be). She is 5 ' and I am 5'7". We found the bed on the 17b so comfortable, that we ditched the queen size bed in our home and replaced it with a full size bed. It turns out there is plenty of room for us, makes our bed room feel more spacious, and we can find each other -- as opposed to those times we stay in a hotel with a king size bed, and have to send out a search party in the morning to make sure we both still there.
As for climbing over each other, that seems to work out just fine.
