Buying a used Escape from across the border...
Any U.S. residents here buy a used Escape from Canada? Or conversely, any Canadians sell theirs to an American? I wonder what that process is like...I know that ETI helps facilitate it on the new ones, is it much different for a used one? In particular, I'm thinking of the part where ETI exports it to the US, and whether that can still be done easily by a private party...?
I did find an old thread about this, but am hoping for a more recent experience...

Google showed a number of companies that ship RV’ s between Canada and the US.
Here is just one to get you started.

Normally it isn't a big deal. Canada to US is a bit easier than US to Canada but both are pretty easy. Right now you need an export company to do it for you. The exception might be if you know someone who is allowed to cross the border though not sure if they would allow someone else to import it (you are allowed, but I would guess the import/export company requires a license.)

Importing used Escape into USA
I was able to do it myself. It is fairly simple. There is one form to fill out ahead of time and the Customs people could not have been nicer.
Someone on the forum sent me a copy of their paperwork and I used it as a template. There is not a need for a broker. I can dig up the paperwork and send it if you send a private message.

When did you do this yourself? Prior to the border closure?

I'm in the process of bringing a trailer from Canada to the US. So far the hardest part is scheduling the move across the border.
Murphy - would be highly interested to know when you came across the border and how if you did it during the closure

Right. So now, you have to hire a customs broker and transport company.

Just wanted to post my recent experience in case it can assist someone. I purchased a 5.0 from a person in BC. We used a tow truck company to bring it across the border...cost was about $200 usd.
They advised me to use a customs broker (probably because they want it done correctly the first time so it is less hassle for them). The broker was about $300usd...and contrary to what I read, there was no need to pay a 1% US customs import fee due to the trailer being made in North America (NAFTA).
Drove it to MT (my home state) and it cost me approx $150 to register it permanently (we have no sales tax).
Safe travels to all...and thanks for such a great forum!

Hey thanks for sharing this, it helps! How was your first tow with the 5.0?
