Does anyone have a 17' trailer in Maryland that my wife and I may look at?

My wife and I are deciding between a 17' and a 19' trailer.

The Escape people have hooked us up with owners of a 19' but it appers no one in the area has a 17'.

We would be willing to drive within a two hour drive to visit.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi: Bill and Corinne... Depending on your tow vehicle and capacity I'd just go straight for the 19'er. The extra 4-6" of width + 2' of length, the queen size bed, and the larger bathroom are worth it...and I own a 5.0. By going to the 19' straight away you will eliminate the "Two Footitis" as well. It's a runaway best seller if that says anything!!!
I think the 17'er is rare in the east. I do know of one or two in N.Y. and one in PEI and one in NB Canada. Alf

I'm getting my Escape 19' in July and you may look at it then. I'm in York, Pa. about 35 miles north of Baltimore.

I second what Escape Artist said. Escape Trailer didn't make a 19' when we bought a 17' in 2008 or we would have bought one. While the 17' is an excellent trailer our 2012 19' is better, in my opinion, than the 17' in every way based on what we use it for. There are 4 of us plus a dog and the 19' works very well.

Cheers,

Also worth considering is the tow vehicle.
I tow the 17B with a RAV4 V6 and I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable towing the 19 with the RAV ( even though my buddy tows his 19 with a Hyundai Santa Fe ).

So, the 17 allows me to have a smaller fuel-efficient ( ish ) vehicle and a comfortable trailer.

But, if I won the lottery, I'd upgrade to the 19 and a larger tow, or the 5.0 and a pickup. Yes, that's what I want....

Hi, Bill and Corinne!
When you have seen a 19', you can just take about a foot off of the bed width and about a foot off of the dinette width and lower the ceiling a few inches and you have a 17'. Most people would have to duck down in the bath on the 17' but not the 19'. You can see the specs on the Escape Industries website. Lots of people have traded up from the 17' to the 19'.

I was very interested in the 17' but when we saw the 19', it didn't seem to make sense to get the 17'. Unless, as Baglo says, you do not have the tow vehicle for the 19'. The difference in towing can be 500 or 1000 pounds or more and that can make the vehicle the deciding factor.

Also on towing, we have not been far yet but are getting 17 or 18 mpg with the 19'. Some people say there is not a difference there or it is negligible.

The two are so similar that it is a matter of whether the bed in the 17' is big enough for you, or the dinette. Many find them just fine. Others want the little bigger version. You will love either one.

I'm a bit more than 2 hours away in Oswego, NY on the shores of Lake Ontario, but I'd be glad to show my 17B.
