Escape 21C brake lights

Wondering if the upper mounted marker lights on the rear of the 21C also function as brake/turn lights?

Would be helpful if I decide to mount a generator box on the rear bumper that might block one of the lower brake lights.

Even if they do include stop/turn functions, I think they're too high to effectively replace the lower lamps - a driver immediately behind the trailer isn't looking up there.

Yes they do ( or they do on the original escapes).
However blocking the break light is a ticket in many states.

The solution is to install a 4 pin brake light outlet and connect a set of lights to your cargo rack

Thanks for the replies. Will probably go with an auxiliary light on the generator box.

I have a hitch hauler that I got to take my kids stuff to college each fall when I had a pickup. The box I had on the hitch hauler easily obscured the tail lights on the pickup. I stopped for a break on the New York State Thruway and a state police car pulled in and parked next to me. I had not noticed him behind me. I had purchased and mounted an auxiliary set of lights plugged into my 4 pin so I’d be covered. When I got out of the pickup the trooper was standing at the back of the pickup looking at my rig. He complimented me in the job I’d done and said he had seen his share of obscured tail lights. You can’t have too many lights and they all need to work. That’s my experience
