Just bear in mind that unless Escape has changed the single 12V outlets they are kind of crude with no cover and open terminals on the back. Depending on placement these terminals can be shorted mistakenly. I did it with a pot handle a few times in one of the lower cabinets. The 12V/USB combo is a nicer looking unit with a fully enclosed design. Nothing keeps you from using an adapter if needed in the 12V port with either type.

I retrofitted ours.

What Rubicon327 says is correct. I had brought up the 12v only plugs in the build discussion with ETI a couple of weeks ago - and heard exactly the same thing. After hearing that, I switched to 12v/USB variety.
