Question finding 36" runner.... most are 30" wide

hi all

if my memory is correct on the 2017 21' the floor space between the fridge and the sink is about 36" wide.

I'd like to buy some durable runner to protect the floor from bathroom to dinette floor lip..... (I guess I'd cut out where the bed is)

most "wide" runners are 30" wide, that i am finding.

i'm looking for 36" wide.

any tips as to what would be a good, one piece, easily installed (and removeable) carpet runner (36" wide) to trap much of the dust, dirt, gravel, etc that finds it's way into a travel trailer?

thanks.

You can go to a local rug company and get remnants or they will also finish a piece any size you want.

We find the 30" runner works quite fine. I like the look of some of the floor showing, it is easier to take out and shake and/or wash plus there is more choices. Now, if one had a raised dinette the length may be an issue, not sure how may choices there are for length.

I think you are over thinking this. Use the KISS method.

My significant other tells me about the carpet that CPA Harley has, something made especially made for an RV. Care to comment on it Jim?

Places like Lowe's have runners on spools so can be cut to length. I don't know about the width but agree that "wall-to-wall" would not be desirable as ease of handling would be more difficult.

Water hog from LLBean

We have found that we like the water hog carpets from L L Bean. Not sure of the sizes, but I think only 30" wide. There is a bit of floor showing to each side but it doesn't bother us

We love waterhog mats also! The runner width is 2 11.....different lengths and colors! We just ordered 5. Works well to trap clingons and very easy to clean!

I am (easily) confused

Would a 2'11" mar run long ways, between fridge and stove, in a (2017) 21'

?

We put two rag rugs down with waffle underlay. They can easily be thrown in the washer.

2 11 is the width.....you choose the length to best fit your situation! Go to their website and you can see the photos!
LLbean, home, waterhog mats, everyday mats.

sorry - i meant isnt 2'11" too wide to fit in that area? between fridge and sink.

i guess the question is - how much floor between sink and fridge? on a 21'

in inches.

Seems lots of people like the WaterHog mats from LLBean...

I'd get the 2’11” x 5’ 9” - to leave about 1” open either side, plus about 3”open at permanent, and also 3" at dinette lip.

I'm looking at the Waterhog Mat, Everyspace 3' Wide (although it is actually 2'11" according to LLBean website)

according to ETI:

Width at Fridge: 36 ½”
Dinette Floor Lip to Bed: 76 5/16”
Dinette Floor Lip to Bath: 109 ¼” (9’ 1”)

What I need is something to keep the small Waterhog at the door in place, keeps getting in the way of the screen door.

Are those Waterhog mats comfortable to walk on in bare feet?

I've found when I need a water catching doormat, I wouldn't be using the screen door.. it's RAINING. So I actually move the doormat over the screen door track and right up to the door jam. Keeps that "funnel" area clean of debris.

But if you're still interested in keeping something from moving, I buy the el cheapo no slip cupboard shelf liner from the Dollar Store. Costs me a whole buck and does the trick to keep items in place.

I have been trying to train Lisa for years now with this concept. We only need to close the screen when there are bugs about. Give me another 35 years, and by then maybe I will have her conforming to my wishes.

I personally am not real big on trying to cover the whole floor with a mat. If I am putting in a good, tough, nice looking flooring, I want to see it. Besides, vinyl flooring is way easier to keep clean from dirty shoes than anything carpet like is. Only if muddy or real wet, or when in for the evening, do we remove footwear.

We do use mats though. Firstly if camped on grass like we usually are a 12' x 7' patio mat is always out. We put a small tough shoe scrubbing type mat outside the door to knock off debris from our footwear, and inside we put a mat at the door to put wet footwear on. We also sometimes use a small runner in front of the galley, which is the only task area in the trailer,

And what do you do with the mat when it's not raining?

We're take off your shoes at the door people, they live on the mat. The mat lives just inside the screen door track, I do not roll it up and put it away when it's not raining or the shoes would have no place to sit.

I have the cheap Walmart shelf liner under the mat now, better, but it still moves.

I pull it back and leave it on the floor where it doesn't interfere with the screen door.

Using the cheapo stuff has worked for me. Perhaps because I'm a solo traveler and have no pets. Fewer people/animals walking in and out. I've also used a piece on the filler board to hold the cushion in place in my u-shape dinette. Works there too.

I wear shoes in the trailer. So maybe that's the difference?

The one we are looking at is the "everyspace" pattern.... different patterns may well feel different on the feet.

I asked the bare feet question to the LLBean web "chat" person last night.... she said she herself doesnt mind - she owns a bunch at her home... but her comment was then "There is no cushioning - it is very rigid."

and they would take a bit to get used to.
so basically they feel nothing like carpet.
