Location of external shower

Anyone have the external shower located on the door side? Pros and cons?

If located on the door side, you get to walk through the mud that's created and track that into the trailer.
That space is usually where I have camp chairs and tables. When boondocking, the driver side generally offers more privacy.

I thought the external shower was for washing your boots off before getting into the trailer. I shower inside.

We like the door side because it's far enough back that we can wash our feet, or our dogs paws and still be right next to the awning mat. Plus, if you are in a campground, many times the you are parked tight next to the water/electric/sewer hookups and don't have a lot of space.

Love the fact ours is on the passenger side! Saves us many trips inside or around. Mostly used for dish water, coffee/tea water without extension.
It's very easy to put an extension to it in case you want to use it for showers etc., hooked up to the arm of the awning, which keeps the "mud" away from the entrance.

Whichever side, an 'all-weather' mat from the rear footwell of the tug is handy to stand on so mud doesn't get splashed up on your legs.

I will be mounting an exterior shower as far to the rear of the galley as possible. We are doing this to have quick and easy access for water to cook and do dishes with. I will just use a quick connect spout and a small table right at the tap. As well, I will have the long coil that Escape supplies, which will reach to the rear of the trailer with no problem should I want to wash myself or something else there.

One of the problems we have found having it on the backside, is that side is often tight to something, mostly trees, and access is often difficult.

I have never showered outside having one on the backside of our 19 for 6 years. I do shower inside, but rarely. I most often just do a sponge bath if not at a campground.

We've mostly used our outside shower to wash hair. I like the idea of being able to do dishes, but the problem is the grey water with food particles collecting in the gravel and attracting the park warden.

We just pitch it into the woods when boondocking, and depending on the campground, usually dump it in the receptor provided. Showering and washing hair too produces grey water.

I don't see the point of two exterior showers, but to each their own. I'd use the money elsewhere.

The points for two showers are all those listed above. There are valid points for both sides, so we have opted to spec our next trailer for maximum versatility, thereby avoiding the "which side is best" conundrum. You pose a different conundrum of how much such versatility is worth. For us, we are building a "Forever" trailer, not to be limited by compromise over just $150.

I will paraphrase Clint Eastwood here, "Buzzards gotta eat too" (The Outlaw Josie Wales). So do insects and other small critters. Simply eating outside at a picnic table generally results in food particles collecting in the gravel. In all my many years camping and washing dishes outside whether using my current passenger side outside shower or with water heated on a Coleman stove I have never drawn the attention of a park warden/ranger. And I use bins and, like Jim, dump the water in proper receptacles when finished unless I'm boondocking. I find the passenger side a much more convenient location for the outdoor shower. Mine is mounted as far back from the door as possible. And I have never tracked mud into the trailer as a result of the shower being on the door side of my trailer.

Technically, rain does too when it hits your dirty trailer or tow vehicle, or for that matter you if it drips off your camping equipment or you, but I don't see campground personnel making an issue out of all that grey water pooling on the ground. And I have tracked mud into the trailer as a result of a rain storm. I have been known, on occasion, to actually sneak behind a tree and pee on the ground. Oops, inappropriate disposal of black water. Hope "the Man" doesn't lock me up. The point I would make is that if you don't see a need for outside showers, then don't have one installed. I could say I don't see a need for cardiac pacemakers, but some of my friends who need them would strongly disagree. And if adding an outside shower (or two), place it where YOU think it will best serve YOUR needs. YOU will be using it so ONLY your opinion matters.

Not sure what causes it, but I just chase mine off my whole head with a razor. Darn stuff keeps coming back though.
