Wonder if they have ever thought of rail? It would take a bit of "specialty" equipment at both ends.................but with auto / rail shipments way down - wonder if they could repurpose some auto related train cars / sidings?

I am all for bringing back both freight and passenger rail...they both make a lot of sense if done right, but considering their present state it could take a while and a pile of money.
A friend of mine works for a major ice cream company here in VT and I asked if his sugar syrup comes in by rail or truck....he said truck. I asked why not rail, they are on a rail line. He said that with a truck they can tell him that the delivery will be on Tuesday between 1 and 6 pm. Rail on the other hand will tell him the delivery will be either next week or the following....you can't run a production line like that! Too bad we have let our rail system go to hell in a handbasket! It is way more efficient to bring goods long distances by rail.
