New Inventory page and process updates

I’ve not said much on this yet, but here goes:

1. I too agree first right of purchase or refusal should be by deposit date.

2. I agree ETI can build a little faster with some standardization and inventory control for appliances that goes with this approach.

3. If there is really enough room in the schedule for 60 extra units, that is something like 6-7 weeks of production according to Karl. So why not move configuration up to 6 months out, and move the build dates for everyone in the summer of 2021 up 6 weeks.

4. Karl needs to make the equity company money, and this is one way he can do it and still have buyers in line for sales. It’s not the best plan for those of us on hold for a long time, especially expecting customizations that are now rejected due to the backlog. I’m sure Karl and the owners are enjoying the proceeds. They should make money to stay in business, but I think this process could be done more equitably.

5. They need to get the post option list out fast. Should have produced it before this first trailer.

6. I really doubt they will build an inventory trailer I want. I imagine I am in line for the long haul. I’m sure I’ll no longer get some of the customizations I want. I just hope my Late February 2022 date gets me a 2021 trailer before the price increase. I doubt I’ll spend much time looking at the inventory builds. The same applies to 2nd gen used E19’s.

One of the reasons I bought an Escape is because I want what I want at this point in my RV life. Otherwise, I could spend a lot less.

Thanks Steve. A bit less confusing. Still seems bizarre to produce and put out "inventory" units before filling back orders. Maybe it's their way of "discouraging" personalization options, but considering that is one of the reasons for their success, it's very odd indeed.

They have to keep employees busy. Building inventory carries little risk, since they don't have to deliver on a certain date. I'm sure protests would be much louder if customers were required to sit in Sumas awaiting delivery.

Are you implying that their employees are not busy enough filling backlogged orders? What an odd comment. I imagine people in line with year long waits might disagree with you.

Not all employees have all the skill sets necessary to build a trailer. Not sure you want a fibreglass guy building your custom cabinet.
There is also limited space for the processes involved.

Campground reservation system strikes quickly. Wonder how many people were trying to get to that trailer that was gone in 30 seconds or less.
I like the lottery system they came up with for the 23 better. Take a list of names that will buy it and have employee of the week draw the winner out of an Escape hat.

Well, as neither you or I have any skin in the game, nor are we trailer building experts, we really don't know do we? Others who do have something to gain/lose with this new operating procedure will guide the thread I'm sure

Agree. I imagine they’re shaking out this inventory sale process so going carefully to start, as well as growing the build capacity. Maybe 2-3/week starting in March? They may continue to sell inventory trailers into August even though production is then directed to customer orders.

It appears that the cost of post-production options are significantly higher than the costs for the same items on an original build.
For example -
- Foot Flush Toilet goes from $48.00 to $90 US
- Toilet Shut Off Valve goes from $24.00 to $90 US
- Removable Power Cord goes from $160 to $400 US
- Storage Box Front of Trailer $560 to $790 US

Something to be aware of before clicking that "Buy" button.

wow! I can see some of these things will require more labor after the build. I don't understand why spray foam on a 19 would go from $640-$800.

I expect any after delivery options require interruption of their manufacturing process.
Of course, they could build another plant and hire people for such. While they are are it, they could build a campground for employees to live in the Escape trailers they are evaluating.
