Passenger Side Light on 21 NE

Does anyone know why the 21NE exterior passenger light is not centered over the kitchen window? I'm considering asking Escape to center it over the kitchen window by moving it a few inches towards the back of the trailer. Thank You!

Well...can't comment on the placement, but we ordered both a "white" and an "amber" light installed (plus the LED under awning strip) for ours.
White for clarity.
Amber for bugs.
LED ... just because it seemed like a good idea.

Not sure who came up with the theory that bugs can't see amber light, but I do know that I couldn't see my trailer step. I went back to white.

That light can be moved anywhere you want it....up high it lights up the entire campsite, down low below the belly band, just the step area and this is where we relocate ours. I also added a led bullet light on the forward facing side that shines directly down on the step that can be independently operated from the amber portion.

I'd be more inclined to center it between the window and the door. IF it's right over the top of the window, the window may not be viewable outside when the light is on at night. At least that's the way with my patio door on my house. Because the door window is 'frosted' you may want to look outside to see who's knocking at night.

We use the optional awning light for viewing the campsite at night, mounted up high and the entire length of the awning.......

Remember folks, if you're not outside using the light please turn it off. It's just good campground etiquette.

We were in Itasca State Park on MEA weekend and our friends were excited about looking at the stars. A big RV had pulled in a half hour earlier and set up, and then went to sleep with their outside awning ribbon light on. It was ruining our star watching, so I went over and knocked on their door and told them the situation. They politely turned the light off and came over the next day and apologized. Turned out they had just purchased their RV and didn't know campground etiquette.

Unfortunately, it's not the first time I've done this, and I'm sure won't be the last. Only one time was I rudely told to F O!

We turn ours on when leaving to use the campground bathroom, but turn it off when back in the camper. Occasionally even we forget, and one time got a visit at our door asking for the light to be turned off.

Enjoy,

Perry

Wait- is that the only window option in the kitchen? It seems small compared to our 21C. Would a slider style be any larger than the frameless?

Thanks Jim for the picture! I guess you added the bullet light to the standard Escape light or did you purchase it this way? I agree that having the optional awning strip light up top and the amber covered light down low is a great solution, only I'm trying to keep my options to a minimum and get by with just the standard light. By the way, it also looks like your passenger side shower is a bit lower than the Escape standard location. I like this because it doesn't interfere with the graphics!

You might want to read my Solar Motion Lights thread.

I am completely with you on this. Even when boondocking, not just campgrounds.

Heck, our porch light sees very little use. When inside we just don't need it on, and when outside we are usually preferring it to be off. Only when we are doing tasks such as cooking do we have it on.

Totally agree. We go camping to escape the lights - not to have them shining in our face all night.

I have a license plate bullet led light on the exterior factory light. The beam is very narrow and focused, it illuminates the step area and perhaps 5 feet around, otherwise unseen in any direction as it is mounted low https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...nnection/1685/
