Our experience with RVLock.com

We bought the following RVLock 4.0 for our 2019 Escape 21:

We found it easy to install and it works great.

Our 21 has three external hatches (one in the front to access under the bed, and two in the back to access under the dinette seats.) Thus, we also bought the following hatch locks from RVLock.com:

https://www.rvlock.com/collections/a...vlock-cam-lock

By ordering the door lock and hatch locks together, you can have them all keyed alike. This means that one key can open the front door as well as the hatches.

If you do order the hatch locks, we found it necessary to get some washers to get a tight fit during installation. I used these from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Happy Trails

I have had the RVLock on my trailer for 3 years and have no problems with it other than changing the batteries after two years of service. I love the remote fob that came with it and use it regularly.

I'm not familiar with the Bauer but the Amazon reviews don't look promising - lots of failures.

After doing some more research i don't believe the bauer comes with a key fob.plus the amazon reviews you found don't look good. looks like the Rvlock is a better setup.I glad i dint add it to my build sheet

Do do really like the lock. I did have the number pad start to peel off on the left edge, but they sent me a free replacement. If a ways into owning, you can order one if needed too.

While some like the key fob, for us though it works well it was too much of a bother, as we then needed to carry one around in order to use it, and for us not carrying anything is the nice thing for us about the lock. We find just entering the code to get in, and the lock button when leaving is a very easy thing to do. Seeing we now have four of them, my wife is thinking about giving it a try again.

We do have a key hidden to easily access should the electronics of the lock not function, but have not had that happen.

I have the new replacement for my old one that someone tried to break into. They broke the pull lever mostly off, but could not get in through the lock. Mind you, breaking the door window seemed to work great to gain access.

Since everyone else has the same storage compartment key as mine, I just leave an extra door key inside one of the compartments, that way I can always get my "spare", even if I lose my keys.....

I would appreciate knowing which one, as this will help save me some time for planned shenanigans next time you are camping near me.

I am thinking of ordering the lock and hatch lock. where did the washers have to go and how many? Is it because the fiberglass is thinner than most stick builds?

Washers for the RVLock 4.0

For the hatch locks, we found that the washers allowed us to get a snug fit for the lock.

I think each brand of trailer has slightly different ways they make hatches, with variations in the thickness of doors, the weather stripping used, the wall thickness, etc.

The washers allowed me to set each hatch lock at just the right spot to have a snug locking position. For me, I put a couple of the nylon washers on the outside, right next to the hatch door. This made the inside latch be at just the right spot. Picture is attached.

I did not need any washers for the main front door lock. That main lock installed just fine. No washers needed for that.

Is the RVLock that Escape currently installs compatible with the remote?

RVlock

If you get the storage locks they may not fit due to thinner doors on the Escape trailers. If this is the case alternate "offset disc tumbler cams" can be found. I ordered two sizes and found the cam with the most severe off set to work best for me. These mount slightly different to the lock but seem to be working quite nicely. I can not say enough about the door lock it is so much easier and safer in every way. A bit pricey but glad I got them.

We got ours a month ago. Took all of 10 minutes to install and set up wish we had gotten one when we picked up our escape.
