This seems like a good price for Escapees in the market for a tongue weight scale.

I got mine at ETI for well under $100 when I picked up my trailer. I did swap out the 2000 lb gage for 1000 lb for another $30 later. Still right around $100 total. Don't know what ETI is charging now.

I shouldn't post anything in the morning before caffeine. I didn't notice that autocorrect changed Sherline to Shoreline, and it turns out the "deal" was mediocre. Maybe the Shoreline scale is only good for boat trailers.

How often does a one weigh the tongue of their trailer? I would guess very rarely. Once one's trailer is packed up and ready to go would be my guess. From then on, if the weight is suitable, pack the trailer the same way.

My local truck stop charges $8 for a weight ticket. Many forum users have found free locations. Even at $8 I could do a lot a weighing before justifying the scale. On the other hand there maybe some owners who like to weigh their tongue at every opportunity, that certainly will give peace of mind. My truck stop has three results from weighing: vehicle, tongue and trailer axle(s). It takes a bit of finagling on the scale to unhook and position, but it does give all the numbers to determine if you are within vehicle specs. I have to remember to add my weight into the vehicle weight, have not figured how to get the scale results while standing on the scale.

Not a bad deal. ETI exceptional. You really do need the 1000 lb version to get the resolution for Escape since tongue weight is less than 500 lb. I was particularly concerned with hanging 2 bikes off the back. Will see how it looks next trip with 1Up and bikes.

I too had to get a 1,000 lb. gauge in order to read it ( my tongue weight is 320 lb. ). Also Sherline says that the greatest accuracy is in the middle of the gauge, which would be 500 lb for the 1,000 lb.
Etrailer, for some reason doesn't sell the 1,000, just the 2,000.
I have used mine on several occassions - adding a box on rear, with and without water. Weighed before leaving Osoyoos ( 325 lbs ).

Since I tend to modify my trailer & its contents almost every trip, I use my "Red Green" scale before I leave for each. In fact, I sometimes use it while packing to determine where to put things...

I also head for the dump to get the trailer weighed before leaving.

Darn - I've been using Jon's "Red Green" version weight scale, but now if we get a 21 I suspect its tongue weight might exceed the 400# max on the bathroom scale.
