We went from 17A (perhaps comparable in size to a Casita) to 21C. First we planned to get a 19 but we thought it wouldn’t be enough bigger than the 17A. I was afraid of 2-ft-itis (wanting always a little more than we have). Also I was worried about the 19’s mattress being wedged in on 3 1/2 sides and hard to deal with bedding or remove the mattress. And I like the counter space and bigger bath. Table in a 21 is bigger, I like that. Also comparatively the weight difference between 19 and 21 didn’t seem to be that much; either one puts you into a similar class of towing needs.

I'm a bad one to answer this as I have flip flopped 4 times now, E19/E21/E19/E21 and waiting for a new E19!!!

Sooo, Jim you should be the best voice for detailing the differences.
Always a personnel, situational choice.

When I started looking for a replacement for my 17B, I originally planned for a reversed 19 (bed in front). I also wanted an oven, and the larger refrigerator. I looked at what I lost in drawers, cabinets, and counter space, and switched to the 21C. I appreciate the largest counter space in the Escape line as well as the largest bathroom. There have only been a few occasions where I missed the smaller "fit" with the 17.

The 21 Escape is more spacious but at a weight cost. My estimate is about 400# weight difference between the 2 models plus options.

Better put in your order and get on the build list for a 21. Sounds like it's only a matter of time, I think.

Short answer: the wife!
Actually, I'd say there are a lot of good answers posted here concerning the differences. For us, it was a decision between the 5.0 and the 19 until we went to the showroom and actually saw all of the trailers. Although we'd had a Casita, viewing pictures on the Escape website didn't really allow us to properly evaluate the various models like actually getting inside them did.
At the expense of two feet in length to potentially fit into those smaller sites, we definitely like the wider aisle, the additional counter space, and we find the no-crawl-over bed to be "adequate", though probably not a lot more than that.

In general layout, sure.
The 19' is also wider (overall outside width) than the 17', and narrower than the 21'.
