I'm kind of glad right now that my completion date is September 2023... just bought the truck that will be the tow rig, my wife just finished her degree and will start teaching in the next few months. We have good income and good credit but I'm just being optimistic that everything will fall into place in during the next ~600 days. Our kids are 6 and 8 and I want to use the trailer to get out and explore and make memories before they are too big!

Congratulations guys. We got our E19 in October and have 50 good nights on it. Both of my fiberglass rigs have been better than either of my stick rigs.

I now have one of the recent nebulous/maybe/don't count on it slots (which I was really excited to get!) that was made available in late Dec. 2021 and ETI specified a build sheet sign-off in early Jan 2022
The "prospective completion date" of mid March/April 2022 is the target.
I think build sheet configuration used to start "officially" 4 months prior to completion, with 90 days prior as a sign-off deadline?

That’s what we thought too. Our completion date is 13 May this year, so we were kind of surprised when we got an e-mail from Escape in early November (more than 6 months prior to the completion date) assigning us a configuration specialist, and telling us that our confirmation date (deadline for a signed build sheet) was 4 January (more than 4 months prior). I don’t know if they’re trying to get a jump start on supply orders or what. Melisa was really great to work with on getting all our options lined up, and was a big help in getting our build sheet signed off on time.

Mind me asking what your original completion date was? Might give me a feel for how far down the line we are!

"Original" GCD was 6/2023, an ECD of 5/2022 on a 4/2021 deposit
Then GCDR1 12/2022
Then CDR2 7/2022
Then CDR2.1 6/2022
Now 3/2022, or 4/2022....or ??....... (maybe, kinda, hope so)
But, I am excited

A moving target for sure! I'd say with a bit of luck I'm maybe 6 months behind you.
Don't blame you for being excited!

I can really see how much slower the production is for the 5.0 when I compare my dates with yours.
My original GCD was 5/2023 on a deposit placed 3/2021 for a 5.0
GCDR1 11/2022
Then CDR2 9/28/2022
Then CDR2.1 9/15/2022
No new rev's.....

Wow, how times have changed. When we bought our first Escape it was sit in the office with Tammie and go over the options list. Now she'd be a "configuration specialist".
Of course it was easier times then. Flooring, whatever ETI called what they put in as standard, arborite, whatever one they used, upholstery fabric, whatever was standard. No need to torture yourself with all the choices that are offered now.
Strangely enough when we ordered our 21 we went with the same choices. Must have surprised the "configuration specialist". It was a short session, we knew already what we wanted.

Well, seeing how we live some 2,500 miles away from Escape’s office, we’re glad we had Melisa to work with via e-mail, phone, and video conference.
Besides, I think Tammie would’ve been more than a little overwhelmed with the number of people lining up outside her office to sign build sheets these days. Times really have changed.

Having so many choices hasn’t been torture for us at all. We’ve had a lot of fun putting our build sheet together. We think what we’re going to end up with is a unique trailer built to our needs and taste. We’re very happy we’re not getting a cookie cutter camper.
It’s nice they still have the same options carried over from the good ol’ days, though. At least progress didn’t ruin that. Cheers.

Well they weren't really options they were more like the Henry Ford option for color. "You can have any color as long as it's black."
We've done a lot of customizing with color, fabric etc. in houses and boats but the classic interior works for us. I'm not sure we could have come up with an package that we like as much. We probably have Tammie to thank for that.

Henry Ford was an innovator. He required suppliers to ship via wood pallets which he then disassembled and used the oak for the floor boards in his cars.

Congratulations. I can honestly say that our 21NE is the only purchase of my long life with no buyers remorse at all...we love everything about our trailer. Picked it up in April 2021 and have spent about 30 nights so far. Everything has worked perfectly. Everything we need and nothing we don't!

Ford sold cars in a wide variety of colours. In the early days, the lacquer paint took a long time to dry and whether the decision to eliminate all other choice was made because black dried faster or just to simplify the production process, a colour choice returned when paint technology improved. According to Ford Motor Company:
Quote:
A common myth is that all model T’s were black. While Henry Ford did say “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it’s black,” the policy was in place solely for efficiency and uniformity. The car was only offered in black from 1914-1925, however before and after that various models of the vehicle could be purchased in a variety of colors including blue, red, grey, and green.
|
The idea of "any color ... so long as it’s black" was that variations were unnecessarily expensive, since the customer would buy it anyway if there were only one available colour. When the Model T was the only car that most people could afford, that was a sound business policy, and it was probably reasonably applicable to Escape trailer interiors. With more competition, a lack of choice is no longer viable. Ford now offers a bewildering array of choices within a single truck model, and Escape has five models... with a couple of interior colour options.
