We're Escapees!

A number of years ago after tent camping, apparently for the last time, my spouse said “I’m done!” and I knew I had to do something! What? Stop camping?! Not if I can help it! I had been lurking on a number of fiberglass forums and had already fallen in love with molded fiberglass trailers. There was no possibility of a stick built, but how to convince Lori? I knew I really wanted an Escape 19, but I also knew I’d never convince my Dear Spouse that we should spend that kind of money on our first trailer. I loved the Casitas too and started leaving brochures around the house – they were everywhere! (Actually they weren’t, I just kept moving the two I had to strategic locations. Finally, she said to me “okay, I think we should do it.” Seconds after she finished saying it, I got online and posted a wanted ad for a Casita and dear Lou responded. We were lucky enough to purchase Lou’s trailer and also exceptionally lucky to have made a friend for life. We have spent the past three years loving our Casita and camping in it as often as possible. Dear Spouse loves it and loves camping again! J While I still secretly, and not so secretly, still coveted the Escape 19, we happily camped and camped and camped.

A few years ago we saw an Escape 19 at the Oregon gathering and she liked it, but we weren’t ready to give up our much loved Casita and buy one. This past year at the Oregon gathering, we saw the Escape 21 and the 19. “It’s too big” Lori said after seeing the 21 – and for the type of camping we do, I agreed with her. Then she went inside the 19 again and said “let’s do it.” Insert big grin here! We spoke with Reace about the 19 and asked if he ever got used ones and it just so happened that he thought he might be getting a used one soon. I asked to be first on the list for it.

A few weeks later Reace did end up getting a used one in – a 2012 with all of the options we wanted and some we wouldn’t have ordered if new, but are happy to have. After I jumped up and down with joy, I put a deposit down on it stat. While I’ve been and still am super excited, it hadn’t felt real until today when we took a deposit on our sweet Casita and now that I feel it’s real, I can share it with you – my fellow Escapees.

I can’t wait until the end of May! See some of you at the Escape Rally in June!

Jane
